We had heard a lot about the Tamil Crown and struggled to get a booking for a while so expectations were high.nnWe booked a table of 6 with our baby daughter, upon arrival we discovered the dining hall is up very small narrow stairs. We had a big buggy and our daughter was asleep so not an ideal start.nnWe went for a Sunday roast and had a choice of veg, chicken, lamb or fish. I chose chicken. The food arrives stacked on the plate and the flavours were nice.nnThe negatives; it was spicy, all of it, with the exception of the roti - we had to ask for Yogurt my wife and family are Indian too. As well as that the flavours just didn’t work together, lots of the same thing. We ordered extra gravy £5.50 and this wasn’t needed and was spicy too.nnThe staff were very nice, polite and accommodating and the location was decent. Overall though, the food let the experience down so we will not be returning.
these guys are shooting for a Michelin star, the food is absolutely delicious. huge with a density of flavors, first real competition to dishoom in London I've seen, had well. my recommendation would be to have a mango lassi, the onion bhaji, mint chutney, lamb Curry with the the coconut Jasmine rice, and gulab jamun which I didn't get to try and instead had the okra fries which would be nice with cocktails. but the lamb had perfect tenderness and flavors and the mint chutney was tasty and the mango lassi had intense flavors and even the rice was delicious. very well done and great stuff. would definitely come back
Improvement definitely required with the Vegetarian Roast! It totally missed 'The Roast' it was more like a regular south indian meal.nnThe meat however, was a great experience. Huge plates, great combination. A bit too much I could say. The chicken was a tad dry and the lamb not as tender as I hoped. The concept was great, service fabulous, great energy and delicious flavours.nnThe onion bhaajis were yummm!nThe meals were well priced at a max of £35.nThe service was happy and cheerful.nnPS. It was late Sunday dinner so I will certainly be giving them another go to hopefully change this review.
Came for Sunday roast, the okra fries and onion bhaji’s were really good, nice and flavourful. For the mains we tried the lamb and chicken. Both were cooked well and all the flavours went together. Was busy when we arrived and after our time limit we were handed the bill so they could seat the next group. Would recommend coming here to try the Sunday roast.
A group of us visited after the place went viral on instagram. We ended up hiring out a private room for an occasion.nnThe okra fries, onion bhaji, and chicken lollipops were, incredible. I could’ve easily finished all three starters by myself. Each one had that perfect crunchy texture.nnFor the main, I went for the roasted masala lamb shank. The meat was cooked well, it remained tender and came off the bone. Having said that, it had a lot of fat. Some of the vegetables, I didn’t enjoy. They personally seemed a bit undercooked.nnThe place is quite pricey for the quality of food served however we had a great time! The atmosphere was amazing for a Sunday. As was the service from the staff so thank you to them.
