Loved it and would happily return.. the bar area was great, as i was on my own i was happily looking at all the posters and random bits decorating the place. I had a lovely pint of murphys which was reasonably priced and well poured. I sat by the bar as there were people at all the tables but i am glad i arrived when i did as it was soon much busier and i was comfortable also got by beer in a glass .. either because i was early or they didnt expect me to go into the gig.. i was good and checked before i went through and so they transferred it to a plastic one.nMy only slight isdue was that both i and the guy in front couldnt immediately work out where the music was and so he started heading downstairs but when he admitted he wasnt sure, we then found it further round to the right but that was listening for the music rather than signage. Ps Toilets were handynThe sound and stage were great - as a small person, even though i was at the back by the sound desk i could see enough to enjoy the performances ..
Name another pub where you can see Shania Twain on a random Saturday?! Great venue with fun range of gigs. Staff are really friendly.
This is a Victorian pub built around a much older inn. We drank in the 300-year-old bar, and there's also a garden bar for hot days and a venue for gigs. This place has a superb choice of fresh beer, great staff, indie music, ... If i lived in London i'd live in Shacklewell so this precious place could be my local.
I was here for a night out and my friend who tried to come in after me told me she didn't realise you have to pay to get in. As she started walking through, one of the door staff shoved her away, hard enough to spill her drink over someone else in the group. Sounds like it was completely uncalled for. I've had some great nights here before but this has made me loose faith in the place.
Great place, not a huge venue but they do very good gigs quite often. Sometimes free, when not free, pretty affordable. The garden outside is beautiful. Staff working there are always very kind
