Great pub with great staff in a fantastic location. We turned up without a booking as we bumped into a couple who had booked. The staff were great in accommodating us all for food in the courtyard area which is a veritable sun trap. Highly recommended. Food was top quality. But def book ahead if you want to sit inside.
Oh my goodness, where even to begin! The setting: picturesque, like a storybook. The room: quaint, comfortable, large, inviting, full of amenities and huge plush towels, etc, etc. The staff: absolutely amazing - so friendly, thorough, accommodating and helpful. And the food: absolutely divine. We’re so, so happy and couldn’t possibly recommend The Talbot Inn more strongly. Thanks so much and see you next time!
Finally I managed to eat at the Talbot. I've managed a pint in the past but failed to eat because it's either closed every Monday or been booked up. I have to report the ale is excellent and now I can tell you the food is delicious. Beautifully prepared and presented, good service in a great ambiance. The food costs a little more than your common and garden pub, but the food is definitely a step above.
A superb spot for a rural retreat. Exceptional service by all staff members we encountered throughout our stay. A cosy and comfortable room with brilliant views. Dinner was delicious, inclusive breakfast was plentiful. Highly recommended, and we will be back!Rooms: 4/5
We booked as a group of 11 plus 2 dogs. Our waiter was very patient and helpful, we wanted to sit outside and then when we were outside we were all like oh it's quite hot so he moved around all of the furniture for us. The food was really good, I had a veggie roast which was SO tasty! I've been to the Talbot a few times but never eaten there but it was lovely, the setting is glorious and all the rooms are very beautiful.
I had a Talbot burger, it was quite possibly the best burger I have ever eaten the flavour balance was exceptional. Everyone else I went with also enjoyed their food. So glad the other pub I tried couldn't serve us any food and I ended up here.Hotel highlightsKid-friendly, Great value
A big group lunch and the staff and food were well up to the challenge, we practically had our own room to keep adults and kids in one place. The food was delicious and came out of the kitchen in good time despite being a busy Sunday. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and helpful, well worth a visit.Service: 5/5
Busy village pub,we visited on Sunday lunchtime on a blustery wet day in December. Welcoming staff, friendly faces, log fires and dog friendly. Sunday roast was excellent, wine list extensive. Menu suitable for children. We plan to return for dinner as I've heard that the menu is varied and caters for all dietary requirements. The only downside for me was parking. Small car park, or street parking. However, when this Inn was first built, there were hardly any cars, and villagers would walk there,so don't let the parking put you off from visiting this delightful place!
Beautiful pub set in a stunning village , our room we stayed in was lovely. Bit disappointed that we were put in the outside sitting room for our meal which had no atmosphere at all and not the main restaurant. So if you are looking to book make sure you ask to be seated in the main restaurant
Lovely setting, friendly staff, such a shame the food was burnt! Extremely disappointing meal. Had the veggie burger option and as soon as it arrived it felt like a lazy dish with no garnish, just bunged on a plate, for the prices the expectation was more than this! Worse was it was bland, tasteless and burnt really badly...can't believe that anyone in the kitchen let it go out to a customer. Didn't make a fuss as it was a birthday lunch and didn't want to embarrass the person who's birthday it was, but defo can't recommend and wouldn't go back. Two stars are for the serving staff being great, shame about the cooks.
