Food was really tasty but had to wait an hour for it to arrive. Staff were nice enough... Would have been nice to have been asked if everything was OK with our food, especially as one of our party's food arrived cold, but after having waited an hour just ate it anyway. We noticed that several other groups were also complaining about their 1 hour wait on food. It would have been understandable if they'd have been heaving but it wasn't really that busy. I'm being harsh on service but to be fair to them. They serve the best food in town and was worth the wait. Just the experience wasn't the best. Good choice of beers, almost 5 stars but not quiet.

Had a very poor afternoon tea here today for my sister's birthday - certainly NOT good value for money! It was served on a wooden board & the amount of food served was enough for one, not 2. Everything was dry, particularly the brioche rolls, and we had to send the (minute!) slice of sticky toffee pudding back, because it was rock hard around the edges. The (unlimited) coffee was served in a small tea cup & we had to ask for a refill, as once the food was served we was never approached again by the waitress. The only positive was the small portion of sticky ribs (although, I had stated on making the booking that one of us was vegetarian, so I was given a cold mushroom and halloumi STALE brioche instead when I mentioned this to the waitress). It was also falsely advertised, because it was NOTHING like the photograph on their website. I'm not the one to write bad reviews usually, but I wanted to warn anyone else thinking of booking an afternoon tea here. And, yes, we did inform the waitress, only to be told "Really? It's made up fresh to order every day." I have had many afternoon teas & this one was most certainly the worst.

Fabulous friendly staff nothing to much trouble for them. Evening meals and breakfast absolutely perfect huge portions. Would highly recommend a visit. Bedroom very comfortable. Great variety of ales and wines.

Great location with polite, cheerful staff. Wasn't sure we were going to enjoy the food as it is not our usual choice but we were wrong (bangers and mash, five bean chilli) - it was really tasty and the portion sizes were ample. As others have reviewed, there can be quite a delay for food but it was worth the wait. A very enjoyable evening!

Came in the other day and was really nice but today we was let down with our food the chips were burnt. my partners food was covered so much in a spicy sauce she couldn't taste anything else and the chicken burger was fatty. Shame how food can be so good one visit and bad another. Customer service was awful today as they was not interested in our complaint about the burnt chips even tho we paid extra for them and told two different members of staff only to be offered some more chips after we had finished our meal.
