Being a big traveller and not picky the hotel itself was very quirky. The dinner at night was top class and generous portions. The service was also excellent. However disappointed with Breakfast. Food and service was very poor. Presentation was poor. Staff were young and very unprofessional. When checking out it was like he an obstacle course walking over leads as cleaner had Hoover lead wrapped around everywhere proper H&S hazard. Just a few areas for improvement otherwise beautiful hotel and good views of lake. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful 16th century hotel with oak beams, spiral staircase, massive stone walls and bags of character. Our room was large, clean with an invigorating shower and a comfortable canopy bed. The staff gave 100% to make our stay very enjoyable. Did not meet the chef but the food he produced was delightful. Looking forward to our next visit.

A warm welcome and friendly staff. Beautiful grounds inside and out. Historic rooms in shared space, a modern bar and modern bedrooms - a good combination. Loved the wood panelled lounge and that food could be served there as well as in the bar during the day.

Get comfy, this is a rather long tale. I am not one to post reviews, so for me to do so on this occasion means there is something very wrong about how this establishment is being run. I urge anyone reading this not to ever consider staying at this hotel. 1. The toilet in the room didn't flush. 2. The general state of the bathroom was tatty. 3. The radiator in the bedroom was noisy. 4. The pillow was flatter than a pancake. 5. The food menu lacked choice (maybe put this down to me being fussy but once I started seeing problems, others jumped out). 6. After voicing my dissatisfaction, I was fobbed off with two free drinks. This was an insult as I don't even drink alcohol. 7. Upon being moved to another room, at least the bed was better. 8. The bath had mould. 9. The showerscreen seal was split at the bottom. 10. Tiles were cracked. 11. The sink had a large crack in the bowl. 12. I was served coffee for breakfast and even that was cold. I didn't dare take a chance on having anything more. 12. Upon checking out, my reservation was confused with my colleagues reservation.

Lovely buildings and setting. Rooms are ok, mine was spacious and generally clean. However, it was a bit ropey and in need of a refresh. The bed could do with being replaced. The desk chair could also do with being renewed - trying to work in the room was not comfortable because of the knackered chair. The room was freezing on arrival. I had to put the little electric wall heater on full-blast all night just to get it to be almost warm. Great potential, but is lacking attention to detail.
