This was our first time at The Star in Petworth. I had a roast which was amazing. So much food, so delicious. Excellent value for money. This is under new management and the new owners are friendly, accommodating and welcoming.nI recommend a visit or more than one to this cosy, quaint pub tucked away in the market square. We will definitely go back.
A Perfect Summer Dining ExperiencennWe had the pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant on a warm summer’s day, and everything about the experience was flawless. We sat outside, enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxed ambiance — the setting alone was enough to make the afternoon special.nnThe food was absolutely superb. Every dish was crafted with care, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can truly taste the quality and passion in each bite.nnWhat made it even better was the outstanding service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. They anticipated our needs without being intrusive, and their menu knowledge helped us make excellent choices.nnBetween the amazing food, impeccable service, and the lovely outdoor setting, this was a five-star experience from start to finish. Can’t wait to return!
We were passing through and looking forward to a nice meal after a long journey, but The Star pub left us sorely disappointed. We called ahead to book a table and were initially excited about our meal. The staff promptly took our orders, but then the long wait began. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive, despite the dining area being nearly empty.nnDuring our wait, the staff were noisily sorting out cutlery, seemingly for the entire month, making the experience unbearable. When our food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. I ordered a chicken burger and fries; while the fries were nice reminiscent of McDonald’s, which I consider a positive, the burger was the worst I’ve ever had—completely tasteless, like eating cardboard. My partner ordered fish and chips and found it equally unimpressive.nnWe paid over £45 for two meals, a pint of beer, and a pint of pop. This price would have been acceptable if the food had been tasty, but unfortunately, it was not. We cannot recommend this place. If you still wish to put yourself through this experience, by all means, avoid the chicken burger.nnIt seemed more like a drinks establishment for the locals, as there were plenty of people in their work clothes enjoying a pint. Perhaps it’s a nice spot for a drink, but as far as dining goes, it fell short of expectations.
The Star in Petworth emerges as a quintessential English pub, boasting a rich history and a commitment to culinary excellence. Nestled in the heart of Petworth, this beloved establishment is renowned for its sumptuous Sunday roasts, featuring the finest cuts of meat and all the traditional trimmings. Patrons rave about the warm, inviting atmosphere and the exceptional service that makes every visit memorable. With a menu that evolves weekly, showcasing locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, The Star ensures that each dish is a fresh and flavorful journey. Whether it's the award-winning draft beers, the extensive selection of Sierra Nevada craft beers, or the curated wines and local gins, there's something to delight every palate. The Star truly stands out as a stellar dining experience, earning its glowing reviews one satisfied customer at a time.
I was disappointed with the roast chicken dinner, consisting of chicken, broccoli, roast potatoes and gravy. The food was tasteless and the veg was undercooked. It would have been nice to have had some Yorkshire pudding to accompany this food and the gravy could have been a lot thicker and less watery. I realise times are hard but for £16.00 a few tweaks to this roast would make it much tastier.
