We stayed at St Mary's Gate Inn in Jan 2026 to attend a family party, which was at the same venue. Our group stayed across three of the courtyard rooms, ours was a family room. The rooms were very nicely decorated, offering a comfortable and enjoyable stay, our only feedback would be some slightly dated but very functional bathrooms. There were nice touches in the rooms including a coffee machine + pods, and breakfast was included on both days, although worth noting that a cooked breakfast is only available at the weekend, with a continental option on weekdays - not a problem for us after an indulgent weekend!nnThe pub itself is lovely, very friendly and clearly very popular with the locals as Sunday lunch was fully booked. We had breakfast there twice, lunch once and attended a party all of which was very enjoyable.nnFinally, it must be said how helpful and pleasant the staff were throughout. Friendly faces, great food and great service. We had one hiccup which was dealt with incredibly professionally by very apologetic staff, these things happen and the response was excellent.nnWe'll definitely be returning when we're next in Arundel.
A wonderful stay at St Mary's Gate with family. The staff were all outstanding but I would like to give a special shout out to Nori who could not have done more for our group making our stay extra special.nThe rooms are immaculately clean, beds were comfortable and the rooms were well equipped with nice touches such as Faith in Nature products, a pod coffee machine and selection of teas.nBreakfast was good and plentiful with a selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries and a cooked menu to choose from at weekends.nSt Mary's Gate delivered good British hospitality and more. Thank you.
Stayed for couple of nights in one of the downstairs rooms in the annex and enjoyed our stay.nnRoom was clean and comfortable.nThe pub itself was very nice and all the staff very friendly. Next door is the fabulous Catholic Cathedral which is worth a visit.nnThe continental breakfast was more than acceptable and set us up nicely for the day.nArundel itself was very pleasant. Probably better to visit in spring, summer or autumn when the castle is open, but we found enough to see and do for a couple of days.nThere are some nice pubs, a good selection of cafes/restaurants and plenty of shops to look around.nnWe took the train to Bognor Regis for half a day and whilst the promenade was nice to walk along until it started raining, the rest of the town had little to commend it. Probably better to discover the nicer villages and countryside in and around the South Downs to be honest.nnHappy to recommend the Inn and Arundel though.
Excellent food and excellent staff team. I normally don't enjoy pub meals as they are often poor quality but having been booked by a family member, a group of us went for a pre-Christmas meal. I have to say it was a very pleasant surprise. All tasted home cooked, hot and delicious. The staff were polite and attentive at all times and there was a cosy atmosphere. Well done to all the team as it was also very busy when we arrived.
I had a really lovely one night stay here last week. Perfect location next to the Cathedral with lovely views down the hill, on-site parking, a really friendly welcome and again lovely service at breakfast, which was a midweek buffet with good variety. I will be back!
