It's a nice pub with good in the middle of the beautiful town of Arundale. the staff and service were very nice but the food wasn't good enough “no tea at all ” we ask for a small salad and we get steamed veggies. Good pub, a nice summer garden, live music, and huge parking nearby.
Called in for lunch, luckily they had availability. So pleased the food and service were excellent will deffinatly return and reccomend . . . Are you curious about electric vehicles. If so why not join the largest EV community on line UKEVOC co uk
Popped in for lunch after a recommendation and it was delicious. Haven't had a ploughman's for years but glad I did. The atmosphere was very relaxed with a mixture of people from locals to tourists and the odd dog or two.
We arrived at 12 and it was quiet, they took our drinks order and brought them over in good time. The problem is we then waited over half an hour to order our food whilst other people arrived, sat down at their tables, then received food within about 15 minutes. We were completely ignored and when we asked a waitress to take an order she referred us to her colleague who was equally uninterested in us. At this point we just paid for our drinks and left. Very poor.
The service from the staff was shocking. We were a lunch booking of 18 guests, which we booked weeks in advance, so we expected there to be a little more organisation than there was. We didn’t have a waitress come and take an order from us so instead a member of the family had to take the order up to the bar. Only a minor issue but something worth noting. When the food came, a few dishes were missing, leading to delays. One waiter I think his name was Tyler was absolutely brilliant in dealing with the situation as best he could, especially since he was normally just working behind the bar, but he was a natural on the floor. However we had to send the ham, egg and chips dish back to the kitchen because the ham was actually out of date slimey top to it and smelt bad. The rest of the food was good, but we were all a bit put off by the gone off meat. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious though! Our plates were not cleared until we asked a couple of times for the dessert board and to order dessert, which we felt the staff could’ve been more attentive with. A real shame because we spent over £450 and are the sort of family who will happily return again and again to a venue to all meet up and support local, but will sadly not be returning anytime soon.
Dog friendly, amazing food. The most delicious pub food I've had in a long time. Pork was beautifully cooked with perfect crackling. Delicious camembert, everyone in the party enjoyed their foodFood: 5/5
Whilst visiting Arundel we fancied a drink and ventured into the Red Lion a what a find great service great choice of beverages. Food was amazing would highly recommend it. So if your planning on visiting check it out you won’t be disappointed
Nice pub atmosphere, decent food. One member of staff ruined it. Walked in. Saw a table. No reserved sign on it or anything like that. Ordered drinks and food at bar to that table we were sat at. Took our money and ordered fine. 10 minutes later whilst we are sitting drinking our drinks waiting for food, young man comes and pops reserved sign on our table and walks off. I went up and explained we just ordered food and asked what was going on basically. Man said it's just so once we leave someone else can get our table. Even though we planned on watching rugby and eating out food I didn't mind as we weren't gonna get rushed out. Went and sat down feeling at ease that issue was solved and THEN this older woman with dark hair came up and said did we want to sit on a table near the window to eat no view of tv for rugby. I said no, that's okay we can eat here table in front of us with cutlery on it and the table that we ordered to and she was the one who put the order through hahaha. Lady then proceeded to tell me that table is reserved. I said that sign was not there when we arrived and that we were able to order food from her to said table. Lady then said that's because sign wasn't put on table but it should have been still no apology bare in mind. I said why do we need to move when we have ordered food to this table and it's not our fault. Lady: "it's a constant turnover" How bizarre, right?! Like no sorry, no nothing - don't piss on me and tell me it's raining love. It could have been so different if the staff member just handled that with a little integrity and understanding. If she had came up and just been honest and said "I'm so sorry we actually have this table reserved and we didn't have time to put on the sign, would you mind moving?" Just a little bit of respect and honesty? Is that too much to ask? Wouldn't surprise me if someone responds to this calling me a liar haha! Like stranger things have happened in that place Zero customer care. Got turfed out of a table that was not reserved when we arrived. No apology. Would not recommend. Avoid at all costs.
Stopped in for an off the cuff lunch and was impressed. We did not have a booking and despite being busy they managed to seat us straight away. The menu had plenty of options although very heavily focused on meat. Both me and my wife are vegetarian and had some really nice food but there wasn't much to choose from avoiding the dishes with meat! I had moules-frites which was really nicely cooked and a lot of muscles. My wife had a vegan burger which was came on a pretzel bun which was very good. They had some really beers on draught and the service was great. Will be going back!
Lovely friendly pub serving great food, all day every day. Reasonably priced too compared to some in the area. Enjoyed our visit. Dog friendlyFood: 5/5
