We visited the George and Dragon at Clyst St George for the first time since the renovation and new management. What an amazing transformation. Really lovely atmosphere, enhanced by a glowing open fire. With a major refurbishment and re decoration, the whole pub has been transformed.nWe had a delicious Sunday lunch, tender succulent meat and nice vegetables. The staff were attentive without being over bearing. The whole experience was excellent.nWe will definitely be returning. Thank you.
We had visited Darts Farm as a family, and whilst their food was very good, we had to consider costs. The St George and Dragon is just up the road from Darts Farm and has a good sized cat park. Access to the building for those with mobility problems is via a dedicated entrance at the front of the building. The pub is part of the Vintage Group and offers a wide range of choices for food covering meat, fish and veggie options. They cater also for children by offering smaller amounts and choices. Beers and wines well priced. Staff were amazing! Rushed off their feet but STILL smiling! Dedicated professionals.
For lunch the food was disappointing for the prices. It was tasty enough so nothing to complain about but we would have preferred a proper farmhouse sandwich rather than the thin ‘supermarket’ sliced bread that came out. Service was average. There are much nicer places to go in topshamz
The evening staff are lovely. They engage and look at you whilst serving. The housekeeping is very good, and the room I was in was extremely quiet. I did find the bathroom small. The breakfast staff are on another level again always happy to interact with customers. I did find the bar a little short on a variety of beer. The Guinness was well served
Stayed one night while travelling and we weren't disappointed. Our first room was being worked on and mgmt quickly moved us to a new, larger room.nnDinner was fabulous, the lentil pie was so good and filling and the steak perfectly cooked. Breakfast was good and came quickly.nnThe bed was comfortable, the amenities plenty and everything clean.
