The Spotted Cow
"The Spotted Cow is situated on North Street in the heart of Southville and Bedminster. We aim to provide a quality community pub serving up great food, drinks, and music. Fantastic pub! Food is exceptional pub grub. Chicken pasta was delicious and the pasta was homemade which really made a difference. Macaroni was also delicious as it had a punchy cheese flavour. This dish is hard to get right in a restaurant and they smashed it! Sausage and mash was comforting and very much enjoyed. Wine is tasty and reasonable a nice French White only £19!. The atmosphere in here is always warm and inviting.
Looks great! But unfortunately staff wasn’t wearing masks, specially indoors! Very disappointed! That is very disappointing nowadays! We came back around 10 months later, as the garden really attracts us! We got there and it was a bit odd, nobody came talk to us! We approached the bar and they explained that if we wanted to sit outside there wasn’t any table service. So far so good. It was sunny and beautiful! Our starters came with our food, although that was actually my fault because they don’t advertise as starters I believe they do that to save some work. The food arrived and the person who brought started moaning claiming he wouldn’t know how to bring the rest of the food since he only had 2 hands. That was very odd, the obvious answer would be to come back as many times as it was needed or even grabbing a tray. Also he said we could already start eating, although we did not have any cutlery, and some of it required cutlery. Anyways he came back with the rest, forgot our cutlery and we had to ask someone else. I do believe this person was training, but that was not a kind nor welcoming hospitality service we would have expected. Aside from that food as ok. In summary They can afford to do that, since they have such a great garden. I hope that helps.
Recommend a Sunday roast here! Lovely service and ambience with candles on every table, and the meat, roast potatoes, gravy, and fresh vegetables were cooked beautifully. They also had two very filling veggie options. It gets quite cold in there, so dress warm, but everywhere’s absolutely freezing these days anyway. Their mulled cider will warm you up!
What a great pub! We didn’t eat on this visit, but have always enjoyed the food when we do. This visit was just for drinks and the Spotted Cow never disappoints. The ales are always well kept and delicious, and they have an excellent range in every type of drjnk. The garden is a great place and the covered areas with heaters make it a year-round venue. We’ll be back soon.
Decent pub! Staff were lovely, the service was prompt and there were a nice selection of ales on offer. The Sunday roast was nice but not exemptional. Overall, the Spotted Cow is well worth a visit and i am looking forward to trying more of the ales in the beer garden this summer!
Fantastic Pub, so cosy, Great vibes at Christmas. great Drinks, food was Delicious
Really nice to have a drink with with friends, not really suggested for a meal. I have been here for a Sunday roast, and I didn't particularly enjoyed. The beef was hard, the sides weren't the best. Service was average. But I liked the location, nice garden outside to enjoy on sunny days
Sunday lunch was fantastic, tasty vegetables the beef was tender. Nice venue with jazz music on the day, slightly too loud for a sunday. Parking is limited on north street so a walk to the venue is better. Beautiful garden a little cold in winter but lively in summer. Service is efficient, staff are friendly. Would definitely go again
Great pub. Large beer garden. Prices are not bad. Didn't have food there but sure it is also good. Will definitely return in summer.
Large pub on Bedminster's North Street, with extensive rear garden which catches the afternoon sun. Central bar with seating around at various levels and choice of tables, benches, and soft seating. Good real ale choice. Food available check website for details. Can get very busy, and is very popular with families and groups of friends alike.
