My friend and I visited a restaurant on a Sunday hoping to enjoy a good Sunday Roast. The atmosphere was lively and the restaurant was busy, which made us feel like we had chosen a popular spot. Fortunately, we were able to find a table and place our food order. We both ordered the Sunday Roast; I opted for pork belly, while my friend chose beef. While my pork belly was crispy and delicious, my friend was disappointed with the beef. It was visibly raw, still bleeding, and consisted mostly of fat and gristle. Despite the busy staff and not wanting to complain, we had to send the meal back to the kitchen because it was inedible. When it was returned to us, we noticed that not much had changed; they had likely just reheated it for a few minutes and returned it. It's a shame because my friend ended up eating only the vegetables. I understand that the kitchen was likely very busy, but that's not the way to cook and serve meat. However, I'd like to thank our server, whose name I can't remember, for being very helpful, professional, and understanding and voided the beef roast from our bill. nWe might give The Crown another chance, perhaps just for drinks.
We hired the Lizzie room for my sisters hen do, lovely space with a private terrace which we decorated with our own party bags and flowers. Jordan and the guy working at the upstairs bar were great but the rest of the service was poor. Ordered lots of food boards for everyone to share. The food was hit and miss, the Korean cauliflower and sausage rolls were delicious, the vegan burgers looked hideous and the mac and cheese balls had zero flavour. Also all the food was brought out first, no serving spoons or forks for ages after and no serviettes.
What a gorgeous, service-orientated pub with excellent roasts and plenty of vegetarian options. The view from upstairs, over to Victoria park is lovely. The guy who served our group was attentive, friendly and unflappable. Also loved the high ceilings, large windows, comfortable seating and the art work. Plus dog treats!
I think I had one of my best fish&chips here!nCame in for a very quick lunch and found a great place. Service was quick and so nice and the food was just great!
Nice and calm pub particularly during the afternoon with very nice food - Be it the mains and the sweets
