Headed to The Saxon Crown after the Argentina vs. England match, and the atmosphere was electric. We walked in to about 40 people, and in less than 20 minutes, the place was absolutely packed with over 300 people; clearly, this is the go-to spot in town!nnTrue to the classic Wetherspoon style, there was no background music, which actually made it perfect. Just brilliant vibes, great drinks, and everyone enjoying good conversation. The outdoor seating area is fantastic; plenty of space to move around and mingle. Highly recommend dropping in if you're in the area and looking to catch up and have a laugh with friends!
The bedroom was bigger than expected, well planned and very comfortable. Plenty of choice on the dinner and breakfast menus, well cooked and nicely presented - also excellent value. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Good location in centre of town and surprisingly quiet and peaceful given it's location. A good experience from check in to check out.
Themed room taking me back to my childhood & memories of the Steel Works. Huge rooms, spotless, large bathroom. Pub is noisy yet you can't hear a sound in the bedroom. Good old spoons breakfast. Staff are great, very friendly. Much better than The Premier!
Good location, parking is free out the front provided overnight. The room was clean, modern, and in excellent order. The value for money was great, as was the food and drink in the pub located on the ground floor.
We stayed overnight on the 29 Jan as went to see a Meatloaf tribute at the Cube which was brilliant!!. We'd never stayed at a spoons before, so was a bit dubious at first, but we needn't have worried! The room was really big, and the bed lovely and comfy. The shower was great also. We paid 70 quid, and we've stayed in Travel lodges and the like before for double the price, but this was much better value for money! There's a car park right next to it, which is £8 for 24 hours, and it is a 5 minute walk to the Cube. The brekkie at the pub was cheap, great value and very tasty. All the staff were lovely and friendly and really polite. Would definitely recommend a stay here. We travel up to Liverpool quite a lot, so please can you have a word with Mr Martin to see if he can have a hotel in Liverpool city centre lol!!
