Wrap up warm as it has no roof or doors very interesting building though lovely to step back in time and vision what it must of been like to live in this magnificent building .The ladies in the shop were fantastic and had a little shot of sloe gin waiting for us to warm us up afterwards......

We found it great as one of our party had a wheelchair although some parts you cannot access. It is breathtaking Elizabethan ruins and I love to walk around an admire the remains of the house.

The audio guide didn't work properly and meant my husband and I were out of sync and not sure if we were in the right place.

EH members so didn't cost us entry fee as such, visited with kids ranging 1-13yrs. Nice day so sat in gardens and grounds for extended time, unfortunately gardens were rather sparse and grounds over run with nettles so toddlers couldn't really explore. Ruined part of Hall great for kids to explore, felt the covered house section needed more somehow, however we didn't pick up the free audio tour handsets (as past experience has told us this doesn't work when chasing toddlers!), I'm guessing these make the house more enjoyable/interesting. Hot drinks facilities were sorely missed, even just a coffee machine in entrance/shop would have been appreciated. Nice afternoon, but not in a rush to visit again.
