We were staying locally and went in throughout the week for pints and a meal. The two people running the place are amazing and so accommodating and talkative/entertaining. We asked if they served food and they took 7 unique orders two of which were vegan, went out for the ingredients and hand made them for us the next evening - and it was delicious. It's a lovely pub originally from the mid 1600s and has a lot of history, and again they were happy to tell us all about it. I believe they're called Mark and Claire and all of us from our group want to say again: thank you, our visits were great and all the best!
Staff friendly & helpful. Only went in for a pint but with the genuine welcome decided to stay and have meal. The meal ingredients were from local farms and they tasted wonderful. Beer is from casks behind bar and is a delight. The only issue was the fact the manager supported Chelsea ;- Will definitely visit again next year.
We have a lovely family meal here this summer. The managed to fit us in recommend booking in advance food was all fresh and tasted yummy. Even if the small ones got a little noisy waiting. Definitely be back again when we are in the area.
Just called for coffee after walking up the river from Watersmeet round trip back over Brendon Common. Superb surroundings in the hotel, very clean warm and comfortable. Excellent menu if required and a good night's sleep would be assured.Service: 5/5
Great place to stay in a beautiful valley. So Very peaceful. Very warm and friendly staff. Good food at really reasonable prices too! Noteworthy details: Staff are fabulous.... Congratulations Lee & staff for making such a warm cosy place to stay.
Went for Sunday lunch after race reviews from friends. Unfortunately found out via Facebook digging the chef wasn't cooking and a barman had stepped in. Food inedible and frankly embarrassing. It was absolutely dead in there, and having eaten their microwave c£&p, I can see why. So so disappointed, but the staff reaction to our complaint means I won't be trying it again.
Excellent place to stay. Reasonably priced with breakfast included. Sarah the manageress is an excellent cook. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meals are very good value. There is a good choice on the menu. Then there's Nicki. What can I say. She is super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. She can talk to you about anything. Nicki is amazing. She runs the bar, lays and cleans tables, serves all meals and cleans allroons. What a lady. Very hard these days tofind someone as hard working as she is. This is our 2nd visit and hope to visit again sometime.wouldnt hesitate to recommend. Michael and I wish you all the best for the future.
The Rockford is an outstanding country pub. For those hiking around Lynmouth, Watersmeet and Brenden it’s an excellent lunch time stop the beer, food and service are always excellent. One of my favourite local venues.
Just popped in for a snack whilst walking. We were allowed to use the car park whilst walking, as we were coming back for a drink and a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful, amenities were clean. Food was very substantial and tasty. Beer fabulous, with barrels on the bar, very rare but great to see.
Always a friendly welcome here and a nice local cider on draught , a perfect halfway stop on the circular walk from WatersmeetService: 5/5
