Lovely farm setting. Stunning scenery. Fantastic breakfast. Comfortable large room. Friendly hosts. I wanted to stay longer. One thing to note for motorcyclists- long farm drive with a bit of loose shingle, so take it slowly.

Had 1 week holiday in Swallows Rest. Amazing place. Plenty of room for a large group. Good walks down the valley to Watersmeet and Lynmouth, but paths are overgrown in places and quite uneven so not good for elderly or very young. Heated swimming pool was a bonus. Kids loved it.

Warm welcome as always, peaceful, relaxing, has everything you need for a perfect break, including comfy en suite rooms, pool, and fresh cooked breakfast with a spectacular view of the valley!

Wilsham farm is simply fabulous. Richard is a great character and an exuberantly welcoming host, with some fascinating tales to tell of noteworthy local events, etc, while whipping up some very good breakfasts. The view is wonderful, and there are idyllic walks, e.g to Watersmeet or Rockford, to be taken right there from the farm. Then there is nearby Lynton, above, and Lynmouth (scene of an horrific flood in the early 1950's), below, connected by funicular or zigzag pathway. Quaint towns, both. Lynton sports a famous candlemaker. Just outside Lynton (Valley of the Rocks) there are spectacular cliff walks to nearby bays, quite toe-curlingly beautiful; there is Lee Abbey for the spiritually-minded; and there is a National Trust restaurant at the parking access to these walks, where you might most reasonably slake your thirst and satisfy your hunger (whitebait, anyone?). Or, en route back to Wilsham, good food and service is to be had at the Blue Ball. And don't forget that you are within a few miles of Lorna Doone country. Quite frankly, our three nights were not enough to do the place justice.
