The food, service and the ambience is just wow! There was this waitress who were so welcoming. I was a bit doubtful whether the food would match my Indian taste. But I was totally overwhelmed by their presentation and the taste. And the dessert, it was the best thing I've ever tasted. Do try their Mango Passion fruit crème brûlée.

I took my Fiancée to The Restaurant on Church Street for her birthday. Neither of us have ever eaten here before even though my Fiancée has lived in Saffron Walden since birth. What a lovely quiant place. Absolutely spectacular food, lovely staff and a lovely peaceful atmosphere. They had even prepared a birthday cake for her. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. We will definitely be returning soon.
A disappointing experience unfortunately. The ambiance is great, the quality of the produce is excellent, both the fillet steak and the lamb was first class and cooked to perfection, however the sides were bland and un-imaginative. Staff were friendly but in-experienced and had absolutely no knowledge of the wine list or what they were serving when delivering the meal to our table. Great shame as it could have been one of those “finds” that leaves you raving about it and wanting to return.

Food is not average, service is really poor waited over 45min for food - it's only an ~8 table place and be prepared to go home smelling of kitchen...really disappointing considering the other reviews dessert was left half eaten...Food: 3/5
This restaurant, The Restaurant, is so inconsistent that last night's visit, after about 20 years, will be my final one. Rubbery pigeon followed by rubbery lamb. When the chef proprietor gets it right, it's worth the money and the incredibly variable service, but when he gets it wrong it's really not - and that simply happens too often.
