It's your typical Spoons serving standard pub grub as you would expect and lower than average priced booze. It has an open air court yard to the rear with smoking and non smoking areas. Problem with that is smoke drifts - this concept never worked when smoking was allowed inside and alas the same follows here. The fact that they sell reasonably priced booze adds to the fact they attract some, let's say, colourful characters. I've no idea what sort of statement a very young lady was trying to makes as she glugged directly from a 2.5l jug of bright blue cocktail. It certainly wasn't sophistication!

Lovely Wetherspoons, nice building. friendly staff. Free refills on tea and coffee. Food served quickly and chips were divine. Loved the calorie counted menu. Toilets were upstairs...not sure if there was a disabled access one?

On a recent work trip to Doncaster i found it so hard to find anywhere to eat in Doncaster after work.I tried several places who served food but only until 21.00. Thankfully a work colleague who knows Doncaster suggested we try The Red Lion in the market square. A nicely furnished pub with good wholesome pub food served until 23.00. I returned many times in that week.

Great staff and waitresses. 2018 March mix grill had a massive piece of fat and gristle. 14 oz medium rare steak was well done. Red lion drops from 4 star in 2017 too 3 due to poor consistent quality of meat.

Fantastic Wetherspoons. Great staff, very nice seating areas. Gets very busy on a weekend as what you would expect from a great pub.
