We stayed here one night as a family, which includes two young kids. The room was made up perfectly with the couch already pulled out and made up. The hotel is tucked into a semi quiet street and was perfect for getting a good night's sleep. The beds were super comfortable. You do need to park on the street, which can be an issue if you don't find a good spot. You also do need to be aware of the time to pay for parking, as they do start marking cars right at the start of the morning. I believe it is 8:30. Everyone was already up for breakfast, which was delicious, so it wasn't a big deal at all for our family. We also found a spot right in front of the hotel. There is no lift, like others mentioned. But again, this wasn't an issue for us as we have no physical issues. The hotel is located in a perfect location for walking around the town. So, once we found a spot in front, we had no issue just leaving our car and walking around. Overall, the minor inconveniences were just that for us; minor. While, it might be more of an issue for others, it wasn't for us. It was a perfect night's stay for us and if we found ourselves in Oban again, we would definitely stay here.
Friendly, helpful staff. Central location, we had a compact room which was modern, clean, and very comfortable. Great shower, handy iron/board and hairdryer, and plenty of tea/coffee etc. Will happily return-good value.
Situated right in the town of Oben, unfortunately does not have its own car park, but there is one near by which has overnight parking. Friendly reception staff. We had a family room for the 4 of us, which suited our needs. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits in our room. Clean, rooms with telly. Towels can be changed every day if you wish and beds were made. Unfortunately the doors to the bathrooms seemingly on all rooms were noisy, so if your a light sleeper it could wake you up. More so in the mornings when the first person in the hotel went to the loo. You can have breakfast here, and they also have a bar. I would recommend, gvfm, great location, friendly staff,
Excellent hotel located in the centre of the town with the bus/rail station and ferry terminal within walking distance. I wS greeted on arrival by a friendly and efficient receptionist who made check in seamless. I would certainly recommend considering this hotel on a visit to Oban.
Stayed at the Ranald apartments and couldn't praise them enough. Absolutely spotless spacious apartment. It's on a quiet street but near all the amenities. If your looking for an apartment give them a try. You won't regret it !Rooms: 5/5
Very decent, super small hotel. We stayed here one night during our 5 night's car trip in western Scotland and this one was the most expensive, however the least entertaining. Art on the wall however were pretty cute.Location: 5/5
Cosy hotel in the center of Oban. The room was clean and well heated, which was well appreciated in winter. Breakfast was tasty with a few choices of pastries and cooked food. I recommend it for anyone looking for a nice room for a good price.
An ideal hotel located few mins walk from ferry/train terminal on a quiet road close to local pubs& newsagents. Rooms are ideal with storage slot on side of bed for a case plug sockets in wardrobe. Teas&Coffees on side. Bathrooms clean,heated towel rail& hot shower. The Ranald has no lift but stairs are located round the side of the entrance/reception with a nice small bar/kitchen,staff are helpful&friendly. Would stay here again Rooms: Ideal sizes for storing case under bed Walkability: Close to the facilities on oban,for shopping& eating
We stayed one night on our way to Mull. Hotel is well located in Oban but the hôtel is basic, you can hear the noise from the street and from the corridors doors slamming. Also terrible noise when you are in the shower. Breakfast is average. Staff is nice. A bit pricey for what you get
We have just spent 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The breakfast was very good and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely return.Rooms: 4/5
