When I left the city in search of a lovely rural pub.. I wasn't expecting the food to welcome us with a strong woft of the great outdoors. The food came out cold, after sending back the wrong burger the chips came out cold. The staff were rude and looked in a coma, sticky tables expensive prices smelly pub. Dirt on the tables as well as sticky seats. One member of staff winging to a fellow colleague he had nothing to do. The turkey smelt like it had been out there since Christmas eve. I wouldn't feed the food to a dog. Flavourless microwaved frozen garbage

Absolutely fantastic. Carvery is outstanding and the staff were extremely helpful. 7 of us turned up at 19:40 with the restaurant already packed, I asked if they had space for us with my expectations of being told no, the staff rushed around and within less than 10 minutes we had a table. Our order was taken whilst we were shown to our seats and was being prepared whilst we got the children sorted. It was all of a rush as the carvery stopped at 20:00 o'clock. Fresh vegetables were still being dished up! So overall we all felt very looked after and welcome even though the team were coming to the end of their day.

Nice country pub in the sticks. Nice outside area to sit in. Interior decor is comfortable, food portions could be bigger but are good quality. Bar manager was super friendly and bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable as well, could do with more gin options.

Great meal for mothers day even though they had been serving all day and you could not book a table. I had a table within 20 mins after arriving, the beef from the carvery melted in the mouth and plenty of veg to choose from. I like that there is 3 different sizes dinners for the carvery. Staff were all very helpful and polite. A big thank you to the manager and all the staff at THE STAR, Will be going again soon.

Nice feel to the place but an hour plus wait for two bowls of chips was excessive. They were then dropped off unceremoniously without a word, let alone an apology. Rather underwhelming.
