What can I say the Railway Inn next too the Thatcher's cider brewery. We had a very tasty light bite and selection of ciders on offer. As a lady I enjoyed the Big Apple which I found a light and refreshing drink. Served in a super little Thatcher's glasswe liked it so much we bought some. George served us and was a great host as were the other staff on, we felt cared for. Having tasted the cider we decided we had to take some home and travelled a little way up the road to the shop purchased some cider, cheeses and our souvenir glasses. Very enjoyable afternoon
Very pleasant pub, modern with a traditional feel. Very effective and pleasant staff. Good menu, nicely cooked and very tasty. Obviously the drink tends towards cider and related products but Thatchers do make very good drinks!
The Railway Inn is truly an exceptional experience. The food is insane. We only had something off of the snack menu because it was lunchtime and slightly cheaper. Not only is the lunch menu a perfect portion for lunch, but the food does not sacrifice quality for the price. I had a macaroni and cheese, and frankly it may be the nicest one I've ever had. It had this beautiful breadcrumb and garlic topping and came with a slab of garlic bread. It was perfect. The chips I chose to have on the side too were beautiful, with the skins left on! I also had to finish my dad's toasted sandwich and it was truly a privilege. I thought the art of a sandwich had reached its peak until I tried this. It was next level. And then there's the drinks. Thatcher's Vintage may be the best cider I've had for the price. It's similar to a Thatcher's Gold but it's somehow even better. Frankly, this may be the best meal out I've had in a long time and the bar snack menu will not break the bank. Do yourself a favour and visit this pub restaurant. They level up pub food to new heights of quality whilst keeping the price perfectly reasonable. Exceptional. Truly.
Wonderful pub, beautiful restaurant and absolutely fantastic food! The staff were super friendly. I would definitely recommend and book in advance if you can so you're not disappointed.
Always a favourite stop! Lovely staff, amazing cider and great facilities. I didn't notice any baby changing facilities but I could have just missed them so we went al fresco at the bottom of the garden Will always come back when we pass!
We were sadly very disappointed with the food served tonight at The Railway. Just little things that could have made the evening better. The ham hock came as a croquette but was very dry and there was no sauce to help it out. My husband's scallops were tasteless. He thought they were to be cooked with sherry but felt this was not the case. The pork cheeks I had were tender but again a little dry. The chips although plentiful were not at all tasty but dry. My husband's pork T bone pork chop turned out to be just a simple pork chop with no tenderloin attached but was priced for the former not the latter. No attempt had been made to render the fat at all. It was inedible. The meat on it was acceptable though. As I said we were very disappointed we had been impressed by the modern sleek look of the Building the cider was good but not the food.
Beautiful pub close to the Thatcher's Mill. Service was prompt and I could not fault the food. The Railway Inn welcoming to all ages and modern day architecture with the cosiness of an old traditional pub.
Fabulous place and obviously the choice of drinks will more than satisfy a cider drinker... On a hot day we sat under the canopy and ate a shared seafood platter which was lovely we also added the gem lettuce side which perfectly complemented a lovely dish.
Excellent lunch here. The staff were fantastic and make the whole experience even better. The food was amazing and the range of ciders on offer makes it even better.
I decided to have the snack menu at lunch. To say that the cheese and ham toastie was extraordinary may seem a bit overblown but to have thick sliced ham, cheese and mustard beschmel made for amazing eating. All washed down with a pint of lemon cider, what's not to like? A compulsory visit.
