This bar was near my hotel but I never got the chance to head in. On my last night I was on my way back to the hotel where I saw they were open. Had the best time there! Tim, Kurt and Don were great. Superb hospitality and great vibes. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Dublin.
Great staff, great music and easily one of the best pints of Guinness I had in Dublin! Came in for a few pints before dinner and ended up staying all night. Will definitely be back the next time I’m over.
Nice cozy bar with great whiskey cocktail. Here on a Monday evening and it was almost empty, had one of the entire room to ourselves.
Very cozy spot. Great food and drink. Warm atmosphere. Our bartender, Donn, was great. He is very knowledgeable and accommodating. Eleven outa ten would go again.
Our experience with the Rag Trader could not have gone better. walking in to a golden light pub with many a whiskey on offer. Our bartender and host; Dunn though was the highlight. super friendly chatty and knowledgeable. made our night the tiny sweet nibbles to accompany our drinks was the icing on the cake. 10/10 will be back
Had a great time here but unfortunately it does have a a couple of flaws. The bathrooms are shared with the club next door so there is always a queue and the bathrooms were in rag order pun intended. The prices are fairly shocking. Charged 7.50e for a Heineken, but I suppose that's just "Dublin things" nowadays anyway, so don't hold it to them too much. The staff were brilliant. Barmen were very attentive and friendly. They didn't shy away from having a laugh with you considering how busy they were. I would definitely return. Preferably when it's someone else's round though
Cocktails are unreal! The barman, Donn really looked after us and made the most amazing cocktails. There is a great atmosphere in here and I would definitely recommend a whiskey cocktail here
Delicious food. Pretty reasonably priced for the quality - I will be thinking about those roasted vegetables and lamb shank forever! Service was a little slow but everyone was kind. The ambience is warm, comfortable, and inviting, but this isn't a "traditional" pub. It's newer, refurbished, furnished with some old things but not the sticky historical Irish Pub some people look for. Also, they advertise "Trad Music" and played traditional motown on a Wednesday night.
There was a miscommunication about a Deal where we made an honest mistake and the bartender started yelling at us, raised his voice, and wagged his fingers at us. I’ve never get so demeaned and patronised and uncomfortable in a bar. We tried to explain and he shouted over us. It ruined our evening. It was the most unpleasant bar experience I’ve ever had.
We did visit after our Sunday dinner and had a first class whiskey experience with Dom. He guided us through the best Irish and Scottish whiskeys. Such a lovely time!
