A visit to Exeter doesn't seem complete without a visit to Plant Cafe. We went for cake this time, especially as the vegan cake choices are so good. This time 6 of the 8 cakes/treats were vegan. Any daughter had the beetroot and raspberry cake, delicious, and I had the gluten free peanut butter and chocolate cookie, so peanut buttery. We also think they do the best chai lattes. A nice treat to restore our energy levels for more shopping. If you haven't been, definitely go as their breakfasts, lunches and treats are all amazing.
Friendly, helpful staff, incredible vegan cakes and a lovely outside seating area overlooking the cathedral. Delicious soups, salads, tarts wraps etc. Great for breakfast, brunch or lunch on cold or warm days. My only wish is that they were open for Sunday brunch!
This cafe is really great for any vegan or anyone who loves good, healthy food. The food was very tasty and fresh. I really enjoyed the location, you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the cathedral or in the comfy indoors area. I had the soup and two salads deal and I was very pleased with everything!
Busy. Good value. I'm not Vegan, but trying to eat more veg etc. Will go again. Popular place, always a good sign.
I just want to admit I'm not a vegan, however I have reduced my consumption of meats and dairy based products. My partner bases her diet on vegan, so on a visit to Exeter she introduced me to The Plant Cafe! We were warmly greeted and found a seat at the window, it was a lovely day so was nice to have lunch with a view of the Cathedral Green. I had a look through the menu and it was filled with some incredible sounding food and drink! I was stumped on what to pick! We quickly decided on a coffee for ourselves. My gosh the coffee was beautiful! Rich in flavour and I was blown away! Better than a good few coffee houses. We finally decided on a Homity pie. The presentation was amazing! I just couldn't wait to dig in! We had a long look around Exeter, so it was nice to finally rest and have some nice food. The pie was nice light, really delicious! You get a lot of beautiful flavour, burst of flavour for your palette. As it was a nice light bite, we decided to get the carrot cake. One of the best decisions! My goodness it is the best carrot cake I have ever tasted! The flavours were perfect, beautifully moist and not too dry as well! You tell a lot of care goes into each dish! All beautifully presented and prepared. I can't recommend this place enough. For everyone, non vegans and vegans will love the food! Incredible and lovely staff that were very helpful and lovely. Gave some amazing recommendations for us, especially being our first visit. We will be coming back some point!
I ate lunch here last week and was quite satisfied with my salad mixture for takeaway and my small butternut squash pie. Really nice flavour combination for lunch. Love that free tap water is offered and blankets to sit out on the lawn. Friendly staff. Also loved the seed, fruit and nut bar: dense but not too sweet and no extra sugar.
One of the best places to eat in Exeter, hands down. The food is delicious, the staff friendly, and the location perfect. They also do great coffee and tea with a range of milk alternatives. If you're looking for a recommendation, the falafel is excellent. All the food comes in healthy portions. You'd better get in early if you want a seat!
The food here is amazing - healthy, interesting and tasty!. Had an amazing walnut brownie with Chai Late and my mum had a chunky mixed salad. The cafe was relaxed and chilled out with a rustic feel that suited the vegetarian food. My one criticism was good price but believe it's worth it for wholesome food on a day out.
First time in the plant cafe today and had a REALLY lovely, healthy and delicious vegan lunch, including incredible beetroot and raspberry cake! Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I was impressed with the service, menu and general experience, especially given that the current owners have only been running plant for the last six weeks. DEFINITELY going back
I'm dairy free so finding a cafe where I can eat most the items on the menu is pretty hard. This cafe is lovely! The staff are friendly, lovely to talk to and genuinely helpful. Small and homely. apparent from the drunks shouting on the cathedral green outside, but nothing anyone can do about that . The food is really yummy: quiches, vegan falafa wraps sorry for the spelling and savoury vegan tarts with a choice of 5 different salad sides yes you can get a bit of each. Desserts are cake choices... Of which half were vegan when I visited including chocolate cake and banana bread. The price for about £8 for vegan tart and salad. So it's not cheap, but not too expensive. Worth every penny though! The only negative was the impossible to cut bottom of my tart... But even then I got everything I could off the base to eat.... It was that good.
