Had a Sunday lunch with our group of 17 people here today. Good mix of food offered from standard Sunday lunch ,pork or beef, fish and chips, belly of pork, mushroom and brie Wellington, and tuscan chicken. All served quite quickly, given the number of us there. All the meals were very good. Deserts are also good, apple crumble, profiteroles ,fruit pudding with either custard or ice cream or choice of ice cream flavours.
A superb family run village pub with lovely views across the Devon countryside. There is a large car park and place is spotless, quiet and peaceful with a clean and comfortable room. The staff are friendly and helpful and are on hand, should the customer need anything. Highly recommended for a stay, I'm already looking forward to when I can return.
What a gem of a pub! The menu is well thought out with something for everyone, the grounds are beautiful and the service is incredible. Theres also plenty of outdoor seating and a large grassy area which is ideal for kids or dogs. Well worth a visit.
Only popped in for a quick drink after walking our dog on Shoebrook Park. Certainly would consider coming back to try some food, good to see a small village pub on the ball. Lovely garden for when the weathers good, and a courtyard area. View is from the gardenService: 5/5
We found the Red Lion by accident while trying to find a nice place to eat. Happily we found the pub in the village of Shobrooke. The food was really nice and was a great price too. One of the meals we had was Chicken and Bacon Salad, but we asked if they could add sun-dried tomatoes, which they did. We liked the Red Lion Shobrooke so much we decided to book in for a night at the end of our holiday before heading home. We wanted to stay longer but due to family issues we had to head home. The room was comfortable and clean. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate with biscuits were in the room along with a couple of sewing kits, which was a lovely touch. The room had a small bathroom with a shower. The view was pleasant and the pub had a large garden ideal for the social distancing need at this time. Breakfast was really nice too in this traditional family run pub. The staff were all very friendly as was the atmosphere. There are a lot of local walks. But if you prefer to visit a town, it is a short 20 minutes or so to Exeter in one direction and the same to Tiverton in the other, yet the feel of the village is that of being 'off the beaten track.' I would recommend this place for either a meal out or to stay and would be happy to stay again. So if you are fed up with lockdown, take a trip to the Red Lion Shobrooke.
Stopped here on the way down to Bude, avoiding a clogged motorway, and very glad we did. Had lunch of slow roast beef and aioli sandwiches on sourdough bread, which were lovely, washed down with a very nice local golden ale.
Absolutely great place! Delicious meals, great service and wonderful atmosphere. Lots of Gluten free options too! The Schnitzel was perfect
This was our first visit but definitely not our last, it's a lovely pub, a good lunch menu selection, the lady was friendly and helpful, the food was good, we had a couple of the paninis, the prices are good, the inside of the pub is welcoming, plenty of spaces in the car park - a really nice pub to spend a Saturday lunchtime with a couple of pints!
A lovely local village treasure, we walked out to the Red lion for a roast and we were met by friendly helpful staff a log fire and great food and drink. The kids enjoyed playing on the pool table and there's even a small shop for snacks on the way home.
We popped in the Red Lion for just a drink, as we thought the kitchen was closed according to Google... Luckily the kitchen is open on Tuesday, so we stayed for longer, and had delicious freshly cooked food. I'm gluten and milk intolerant, that was not a problem for the kitchen. We even stayed for desserts . We were made too feel very welcomed, by friendly staff and customers, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely garden space too. To find out if they are open and serving food it's best to ring them direct. We popped in for evening meal on a Saturday after our first visit hubby had chimichurri which he enjoyed
