Good food, first class service. However the veg was swimming in butter of which there was no mention on the menu and therefore being dairy intolerant I couldn't eat them. I did feed this back to the manager who didn't seem to get what I was telling him, he said if anyone has any sort of allergies they'd mention at the outset to which I pointed out that seeing vegetables on the menu would never prompt me to ask if they are suitable for dairy intolerant as I'd not expect my veg to be served in butter, anywhere without mention on the menu. As good as the food was overall, I felt it was over priced for what it was. £22 for rib eye steak which whilst I'd expect some marbling, was very fatty, (I've had better at Beefeater), I swapped chips, tomato and mushrooms for mixed green veg and the veg portion was small. Although the steak was nice, it didn't look 9oz together with the small veg portion which I couldn't eat most of due to the butter, I left feeling hungry. However everyone else enjoyed their meals, though most saying it was quite expensive (£16 for 3 sausages and mash with veg)

A great destination for the whole family, especially when the sun's out as there's a lot of lovely outdoor tables. Good food and very hospitable staff...and they still brew their own beer! Must be Worth a try!

Lovely pub in so many ways. same ale on tap since my last visit with my late mum. Iver ten years ago So nice to go back, All these years later and get the same pint and same welcome. Great staff didn't eat this time but food looked amazing and I don't remember complaining ten years ago either! Well worth a visit!

Wow . It’s One of the best locations in Exeter. Food great . Drinks I like very much here hot or cold. When sunny I don’t find a place to sit.

Visited on a balmy Friday evening and sat above the occasional clatter of trains racing under the bridge, on a road side terrace with a spring beer from the pub's own micro-brewery. Food is very good and the ambience is casual and relaxed. It has a good reputation.
