Having eaten here a few times now it never fails to impress, the food here is simply stunning. The 28 day aged smoked rib eye steak with skin on chips, portobello mushroom and a truffle butter was cooked to a perfect medium rare so tender you could cut it with a spoon, the truffle butter tasted divine. How this place is not busier or more well known is unreal it is a hidden gem of the city it doesn't matter what you order here it will be fresh, perfectly cooked and taste nothing short of incredible. Previous times I have been lucky enough to sample the sharing boards, a slow cooked shoulder of lamb, a 35 day aged steak plus a few desserts - every single thing you put in your mouth is stunning. The service is attentive without being overbaring, with friendly chatty staff who will do all they can for you. The prices aren't the cheapest but you really are getting more than you pay for, I would pay double what it lists for the the quality of food that they put out. A little hidden down gas street just off broad street opposite the brasshouse or come off the canal by bistro pierre, stroll straight past any of those establishments and look for the large cream georgian style house. Understated but try it, it puts so many other high value names to shame, supposed well regarded names, or specialty steak houses haven't got a jot on this establishment. I cannot rave about this place enough.
A little disappointed having looked forward to this. Didn't get of to a good start when the wrong first course arrived. Was made to feel guilty when we asked for the right one. It arrived in due course, with additional unwanted comments. Belly pork was nice but miniscule. Ironically, we walked into a rather public discussion between kitchen and waiting staff concerning a missed item from an order. Turned out to be rather prophetic. Visited March 2018.
The signature dish is great, three types of pork amazingly made. The starters are also nice. The kitchen staff know how to handle food. And servers are extremely nice.
Very enjoyable visit. Food excellent, bit different and very well cooked. Staff friendly and surprised me with a free desert when they found out it was my birthday. Will be going back
Really good meal. Friendly staff. Nice decor. Willing to go the extra mile
Superb. Food was amazing. Really well priced for such good quality. Staff were great and the whole atmosphere is relaxed. This is definitely one to visit for high quality food. If there is one negative it is that the acoustics mean that you'll never really have a quiet meal; the speech of dining groups can carry. But, it is certainly worth a visit just for the excellent food and very reasonable prices. We had two starters, two mains and a half bottle of wine and spent £60
Went there with high expectations. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon. However service was very slow and we no waiting staff attending in the upstairs restaurant meant we couldn't order another drink with our meal and had to go and find staff to pay our bill. Friendly nonetheless. The food was OK. Looked fantastic but a case of style over substance. Taste was OK.
Five of us visited last night. When we arrived I was unable to sit at the high table they had allotted us, but the staff quickly organised another table. We each had something different for a main course and everyone enjoyed their meal. The food was hot, nicely presented and good quality. It was busy but we were served in a reasonable time. I would recommend this restaurant.
I liked the modern warehouse decor and the relaxed feel of the place. The food looked amazing and tasted divine. We had the seafood sharing platter and a couple of virgin mojito's as we were cycling back home ; Definitely a place to come back too.
Went there quite a while ago for lunch. Perhaps it was Xmas time the service was very slow. The price was premium for Birmingham. Food was okay but not impressive. It was good to give a try but probably wouldn't go back again. UPDATE: somehow went back by accident. Realise they change menus every season. Obviously this season’s menu is a lot better and I changed my mind: I would recommend. And maybe once every season to see the difference :
