Charming pub along the canal, we stopped by for an afternoon treat after a walk around the city. They are dog friendly and the service was friendly and quick. We had a chocolate brownie and lemon tart. The tart was a bit hard and the vegan ice cream probably wasn't the best pairing. Nevertheless we'd come back for a drink or two again as our new local.
Can’t beat a Chef and Brewer for a classic pub meal, especially a Sunday roast! I also love the fact they accept Tesco club card vouchers.Food: 4/5
Impressive looking building, situated right on the canal. The pub has a good beer selection. Food was perfectly acceptable. Nothing amazing, standard chain pub grub, but tasty enough. Biggest downfall for us was the heating, or lack of it. We'd met with friends and were on a bit of a session day. We had planned for more drinks after our meal, but decided to move on as we were all freezing. We'd have happily bedded in for the afternoon if we'd been warm. Probably a sign of the times.
We booked here for a Sunday roast dinner & on arrival we were told its just the meals shown on the menu. We settled on the steak & ale pie with chips & peas. My wife's pie didn't contain much meat, which didn't please her as she was looking forward to a Sunday roast.Food: 3/5
Adorable little pub right by the canal. Not had a chance to try the food but plenty of drink options, especially on a warm evening, plenty of seating outside too. You can also order/pay through the Greene King app when it’s not too busy which makes it a lot more convenient. My only suggestion would be to allocate non-smoking areas when sitting outside as we kept getting smoked from every angle, no matter where we sat.
I asked for the “awarded slow cooked” steak & ale pie. Far too much pastry. So poor the steak. VERY dissapointed. Expensive for simple potatoes and poor quantity of steak. As well, I wanted bread to eat with the sauce and the bread came 20min later. Too late. Beer good. But I wouldnt come back.
Nice bar with outside area that looks over the canal. Stopped at lunch time on a Saturday, it was rather quiet in there with plenty of seat inside and out. Staff were professional and friendly, toilets clean and the drinks appeared well price, with a good selection of spirits. I'm sure there are more charming pubs if you look further out but for a central pub location a nice place to spend the afternoon. Parking: No onsite parking though a few good paid options within a 5 minute walk q-parking brindley place and the utility arena car parks for example. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy accessibility inside the pub, though be aware that the bridges over the canal can be quite arched so may make it difficult to traverse.
We went here on Christmas Eve for dinner and the place was very quiet. The staff were kind and attentive nonetheless and the food was good. I had the BBQ chicken which was a good combination of flavours. The pub itself is really beautiful. We had only been here in summer before but now in winter time it is really cosy inside with the right amount of light and wooden interior. We will revisit when coming to Birmingham again.
Lovely spot by the canal for a few beers and food with friends. Did have a limited menu on the day we visited with several things unavailable or told not available on ordering which was a bit of a pain. Service quick and warm enough to sit outside for a change.Food: 3/5
