Great food, poor value. I was here for a lunch on a Thursday. The grounds are beautifully sites, with paved back garden and gravel parking lot adjacent to a pasture. Hills are in the mid distance. Not terribly far from the A14, this is tucked away nicely. The food was fantastic. I had the cauliflower and cheese pie served with mash atop and a broccoli puree. The crust was flaky and the filling creamy and hot. I hate cauliflower, but I loved this. Dessert was a pavlova. Plump and crisp with a small assortment of berries and a lemony sauce. Light and refreshing and paired well with an espresso. With a beer, this ran me to 27£. This isn't good value for the money, and I asked a friend to confirm that feeling. He said: "it was overpriced. The price matched the establishment but the food quality didn't match the price." The vegetarian pie was over 15£, it should probably be about 10-12£. My recommendation: the food is great. But go on a nice day when you can sit outside and enjoy the view, take a walk, and have good company even if it's just yourself treat the price for an event, not just a meal.
This pub was set in the beautiful countryside, lovely open fire and the food was delicious. Great gluten free options too and we never waited long for anything. Perfect place for our lunch!
Met up with friends for a meal. This is a good village pub in a lovely location. Food is really tasty and hot, a good few choices suit all needs. Staff are friendly. Very clean. Beer garden is really nice with plenty of comfortable seating. Would recommend Food: 5/5
The food was excellent but the service wad ver poor. No glasses provided with the water mo salt and pepper. Request for a second drink had to be reminded and a long wait between courses that we gave up on dessert. Our waitress was more concerned with sorting out the cutlery.Food: 5/5
Popped in for a drink on a Sunday afternoon. Lovely place with a new outdoor area for seating and good car park at the back. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. They also gave my dogs some biscuits. Toilets were clean and nice. Will definitely go there again, I didn't know of it, so hadn't been before.
The food has always been amazing when I've been here. Last time was Italian night and the ossobuco was exceptional. They have a really nice garden area - no lawn but lots of outdoor seating with some great views of the surrounding countryside.
Sun Aug 21st 2022, attended a very good friend's birthday meal and this venue was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the meal was very very good considering the number of people and different choices of dishes. We were so impressed with the whole experience we have booked to go again.
Came here for the first time, great place, front of house staff were very good, very attentive without us feeling rushed or hassled, food was of a good standard, fresh and well presented, the cost is slightly more than you would normally pay for the same food ie sirloin steak which my partner ordered, elsewhere, however the quality was higher than normal and matched with the place and excellent service I was happy to pay a slight premium overall. Will definitely be re visiting.
Re-opened, refurbished and back with a bang! A classic thatched country pub which has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to more than its former glory, with new owners and new management. It now features a wonderful and sizeable pub garden with stunning views over the Cambridgeshire countryside - with the quaint addition of Highland Cows who seem to enjoy watching the customers! Having been for drinks and food now on a couple of occasions, the menu is sophisticated, tasty with plenty of variety. If you're enjoying a drink in the garden, for nibbles, I highly recommend the cheese fritters - they compliment a cool glass of Prosecco perfectly. There is an extensive wine list and a selection of cocktails on offer. Inside the pub, it's all olde world charm but with a modern twist - and as much I love the warm weather, I almost can't wait to see a roaring fire in the two fireplaces! The staff are friendly and welcoming - it's the sort of pub I'd be happy to go into on my own for a light lunch or just a drink. I can't wait to try their Sunday lunch which I've heard good things about already from those who have been! Considering it's a whole new team of people, the service understandably was a little bit slow as they were learning the ropes. However, on my last visit, I was impressed by how much slicker it was - they're obviously fast learners. Can't wait to go back and support this quality pub/restaurant.
Quality venue, bright, clean and airy. Extensive menu, food well presented and cooked. Staff attentative and friendly. Not cheap, but worth the price all round. Very satisfied.
