The Pearce Institute, affectionately known as the PI, has been at the heart of the Govan community since 1906.

The PI is home to a wide range of community groups and social economy organisations sharing the common aim of meeting the needs of the people of Govan.

With a wide range of accomodation the PI can offer organisations an ideal venue for meetings, conferences, social functions, recreational pursuits and leisure activities.

The aim of this page is to provide a notice board for groups operating in the Govan area and in the PI. If you would like to find out more about what's going on or prices for venue hire please get in touch.

The 'PI' as she is known locally is an 'A' Listed building completed in 1906 and designed by Sir Rowand Anderson. Gifted to the people of Govan by Lady Pearce, it remains a vibrant community centre open to all. The first stage of massive restoration work included a new roof and stonework repair. Even the famous ship sculpture was repaired and replaced so make sure you look up ! Inside there are plenty of architectural delights to remind you what a famous building this is . Some fine halls and rooms often used for local events with other areas permanently leased as office space. It's vast inside and obviously sensitive restoration takes time and depends on generous funding . I just loved it all ! The cafe is the heart of the community and as I started my wonderful day in Govan here, I chose to finish it here as well. Great food and service in a really friendly atmosphere. Thanks to the wonderful Betty R at reception who took time to show me round the building and who is a 'PI' and Govan Mastermind . If you plan a trip to Govan to visit Fairfield and the famous Stones at the Old Church then drop in here first to taste the history and the coffee.
Was here for a LOOP performance nice wee cafe inside wee man enjoyed his chips and nuggets, architecture of the building is appealing

Still well used and an integral part of the community
Could do with having someone to advise on what is going on in the community. A lot of the leaflets on the walls were out of date, but it is a lovely place and the cafe looks great. I did not go in for coffee but will do the next time
I visited this week for a Reiki session with Marilyn from Clear Channel Reiki. Marilyn has a beautiful therapy space on the top floor within the Pearce building, Marilyn was lovely and made me feel very relaxed from the moment entering her lovely space and sanctuary, which continued through the whole experience and has left me feeling amazing, revived and so relaxed since. I can definitely recommend a visit as I will certainly be back to this hidden gem, within the amazing building of the Pearce institute in the heart of Govan x :
Staff are really nice. The venue has a lot of history. The outside of the building is impressive. The McLeod Hall is a big hall with many original features including a huge organ and original timber panelling.
Such a lovley building. We played on stage for a bit and the natural reverb was jaw dropping. I'd live a closer look at that pipe organ.
