Decent sized car park. Outdoor beer garden is really nice with sun until early evening. It’s dog friendly as well. Service was great. They greeted us straight away and allowed us to pick any table we wanted. The food was quick. Their chips are incredible. Genuinely the best cooked chips I have ever had. Ever. They were unreal. The burger was okay. The chutney was overpowering and made it soggy but it was tasty. The battered haddock was also nice. It’s well on the pricier side of life. Two meals and two cokes set us back £50.00.
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday roast dinner at the Onslow Arms, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a delightful evening. The decor is charmingly rustic, blending traditional pub elements with modern touches. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that we felt right at home. The highlight, of course, was the roast dinner itself. I opted for the roast beef, which was cooked to perfection – tender and juicy, with a wonderful depth of flavor. The accompanying Yorkshire pudding was golden and crisp, exactly as it should be. The roast potatoes were perfectly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, while the seasonal vegetables added a fresh and vibrant touch to the plate. The rich, savory gravy brought everything together beautifully. My dining companions had the roast chicken and of which were equally impressive. The chicken was succulent and well-seasoned, satisfying even the most discerning palate. To top it all off, the dessert selection was outstanding. We shared a sticky toffee pudding and that was decadently rich and perfectly complemented by a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate brownie, hot chocolate sauce, complemented by a generous scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Overall, the Sunday roast at Onslow Arms is a must-try. It’s a perfect blend of comfort food and culinary excellence, served in an inviting and friendly setting. I can’t wait to return for another memorable meal.
Our group of 8 had a very nice lunch … the food, service and atmosphere were all good. One thing we would comment on is that increasingly, more enlightened restaurants do not automatically add a 12.5% Service Charge but present their client with a Credit Card Screen that list possible options … much more courteous and service-minded … see photo attachment example. You might want to consider introducing this facility instead of imposing a fixed 12.5% ‘fait accompli’ amount … for your consideration …. Parking: Parking is fine & easy
Lovely restaurant in the Surrey hills targeting rich retirees who can lunch at leisure. We came for a team leaving lunch and enjoyed superb food.Food: 5/5
Our experience at the Onslow Arms was nothing short of exceptional. All the organisation was handled by James the general manager and on the day we were looked after by Pascal and his team. Their dedication to customer satisfaction truly made my wife’s Birthday celebration an unforgettable event. We can’t wait to return for another delightful experience!
This visit, was my first to The Onslow Arms, and the food was awesome! I don’t use that word very often but it was really good. My husband and son had the burger. I was surprised my husband liked it as he has very high standards but he was very impressed. I find it hard to get food that I like and I had two starters, chicken satay and goat cheese and beetroot salad, which were large and extremely tasty. My favourite was the chicken but the combination was great, and I’m glad I had a variety. Some of the starters are listed with a choice as a main, so make sure you don’t miss them as they are not listed under the mains. I can’t remember if the fish was cod or something else but it looked great and apparently was also great, and I’m tempted to try it next time. The puddings were also delicious. Fruit crumble, lemon posset, and I had fresh seasonal fruit with peach sorbet, which had a good variety of fruits and the sorbet was delicious and a respectable quality. I have a pet hate/annoyance of ice cream / sorbet “scoops” being more like “scrapes” but this scoop lived up to its name I’m already looking forward to going again. Car parking was very generous but the entrance is hard to see, if you are new here. We went on a Saturday lunch time, and the restaurant looked full.
Great service to start with before they got too busy and lovely atmosphere but disappointing food. The trout niçoise portion was really small, the roast beef and roast pork was average. The beef was tough, Yorkshire puddings were too oily and the roast potatoes were over cooked - tasted like they had been cooked multiple times even though our table was only at midday. This was our third visit last one was a year ago and we were really disappointed.
Travelled to the area for work last weekend, just from the website this pub looked inviting so we decided to stop here for a late lunch! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Great selection of drinks and wide variety of food. The food had that extra attention to detail which sets this pub apart from others, while using local ingredients to enhance their dishes. The fish and chips had the addition of Samphire in the batter, elevating the taste, best I've had in a long time! Others on the table thoroughly enjoyed the special fishcakes and the burger with plum chutney and blue cheese. Beer garden had plenty of seating, there is also ample inside too. This pub had such a lovely feel to it, whether a local or just passing through like me, it's well worth a visit! Loved it! Parking: Lots of parking to the rear of the pub, no need to worry about not getting a space!
Such a lovely pub, our waitresses Anna and Gabby were very attentive and friendly. There is a lovely outdoor seating area where my dog enjoyed the sunshine and pampering. The food was delicious, I had the veggie roast which I’ll definitely go back for. Just a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended!Food: 5/5
Service was on the one hand hurried but the food extraordinarily slow to come out. The dish we ordered was incomplete. I feel that if they had no bacon that day, we ought to have been told in advance, as we wouldn't have ordered the dish, given the bacon was an important element. Why offer alternatives of rare, medium and well done if your chef ignores the request. Overall a very weak and inept offering.
