18th Century award winning, real ale Public House and Bed and Breakfast situated on Barnard Castle's bank. Offering 10 en-suite rooms, freshly prepared, wholesome meals served from noon and fabulous real ales.

Popped in for a drink on a cold February afternoon and we're happy we did. Although looking traditional from the outside, the inside proved to be an absolute gem. But first a mention of the owner and landlord; one of the most polite, helpful and kind persons that you could meet. A lovely engaging man who gave me, my wife and our little scraggy dog loads of attention. Thankyou. Now the pub; great little bar, lovely dining areas and one of the finest beer gardens we have seen. I expect they will be rammed in the summer because of the views, excellent service and warm welcome. We will be back.

Well worth stopping as you drive through Cotherstone. I was made welcome throughout the evening and I enjoyed the chat with the locals. Quality menu to choose from.

This is a very nice homely pub.  The Landlord Roy  is very friendly and helpful.  The pub is very clean and tidy and the food is cheap and
tasty.  We enjoyed our visit.

Great garden. You should certainly keep letting musicians come round and play guitar in garden on sunny days!
