This is a Great little B&B, the rooms are large and cosy with all your needs. Breakfast is a feast to set you up for the day. Carole is a lovely host nothing to much trouble.
The hostess is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. She also cooks the best fresh breakfasts. The home itself is newly renovated - clean, elegant, and cozy! The service was empecatable and at the same time it felt like home. I loved staying here and didn't want to leave! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Barnard Castle and even surrounding villages. The Bowes Museum is literally minutes away by foot and is a stunning venue to explore during the day!
I was in town for a week visting my boyfriend's family last hear. Bit late on the review. I was visiting all the way from Los Angeles. Lovely bed and breakfast. The women who owns it is very very sweet and an amazing cook. The room I stayed in with my boyfriend was very comfortable and clean. I believe you can have the option to eat in the breakfast table there is downstairs or if you like in the garden. The garden is also very beautiful and well kept. Overall I had an amazing experience. If I visit again I will absolutely be staying here again.
Amazing host- Carol and tastefully decorated, clean big bedroom and bathroom. The quality of food was superb and has a number of restaurants on its doorstep. Nothing was too much to ask and everything was perfect!

We stayed at Newgate House when we visited the spectacular show Kynren.The proprietors were very welcoming and the accommodation tasteful and comfortable. A lovely full English breakfast I have no hesitation in giving it a five star rating. Jean Samuels

There's so many good things about this place it's hard not to give it 5*. The house rooms and proprietor's are lovely the price is right, however there are areas that lack. Unfortunately 40yrs as a hotelier leaves me with a critical eye.
