Absolutely adore this pub. We are not local but have visited a few of times now as we have family in the area. The food is always outstanding. There is a good variety on the menu and the food is cooked to perfection. We have dined in the restaurant, in the bar and outside in the summer - we just love this little gem of a pub! The staff are always extremely welcoming and friendly. The pub has a great atmosphere all throughout the day and evening. Everyone should take a visit to The Nelson Inn, you won’t regret it!
Nice place. It seemed popular and was busy when we visited. The food was great. My steak was well cooked, they weren't afraid to cook it nicely rare. Personally, I could have lived without the dance music in the dining room.
We had such a lovely drink here on Mother's Day. Very nice to see the pub has had a bit of a makeover since we last went and it looks amazing inside. Drinks were well priced and service was okay, the youngsters serving on the bar all looked tired from a long day. Outside is amazing for children, it has a play area with benches for families to sit on and they have a massive field with goal posts with an included football. This is a great location for families to eat and bring their kids. Great location to walk too and the outside was kept clean and well presented at all times. Music was a little loud out there but was okay when more people were chatting away. Very impressed with this little place!

Nice pub. Good service, altho for some reason the girl initially greeting us was interrupted by a guy server when she was telling us where to sit. I mean, she had "here is your table" under control so that was a bit odd. Dessert should have been listed as desert as the cake was far too dry and had either been over baked or left out to dry into an arid mouth experience. Mains were very good portions, freshly cooked, tasty, and good value. Place was clean. Car park was spacious with some very funny examples of high value cars parked so badly to prove the "park it like you stole it" :D Gave us a chuckle coming in. Outside space and kids area for daytime use. Good pub!
The Nelson is a personal favourite for special occasions. The food is very reasonable prices for the great quality that it is and the staff are always friendly. The drinks are slightly expensive but the if you’re after somewhere to enjoy a beverage in a beautiful setting then it’s well worth the small premium. In all the times I’ve been I’ve never felt rushed, however I do feel that the mains could be brought out slightly quicker after the mains have been taken away. There have been times where those who haven’t had starters are sat for some time waiting for food because they have to wait for others to finish starters and then wait further for the main course to come out. Overall, it is a great restaurant, the plays feels homely and the staff make the experience one that makes me keep coming back.
We've eaten here twice now and the food has been exceptional both times. There is a variety of food so if you want the usual fish and chips, burgers that's avaliable but there are also more refined dishes. Their gin menu is extensive too. Staff are always lovely and attentive. Will be returning for sure
Lovely atmosphere; delicious meal. The baked cod was really tasty and came with a lovely prawn and mushroom sauce. Accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked. Salted caramel profiteroles to follow. Superb!!
