Very nice spot. Clean, comfortable rooms with everything you need. Note to management - big coffee mugs at breakfast would be good. Full English breakfast was perfect!!Rooms: 4/5
Loved this authentic country bed & breakfast pub. Not only is their restaurant exceptionally creative and tasty but it is also made with local products from the region. The staff is lovely and very considerate to give you the best stay. The pub is also located in the middle of the Surrey hills, trail and hiking paths are immediately accessible from the pub, very easy. I highly recommend.
Very nice short stay. Warm and friendly staff, great decor, atmospheric bar and comfortable rooms. I only had breakfast which was good. Highly recommended. Very nice scenic walking in the local area.Rooms: 5/5
Staff were brilliant. Food was amazing. Best pub roast I have had in a while. I do think it is a bit much to charge £3 for extra gravy when the roast was £56 for two people.
I've rated 5 stars as my wife and I had a lovely meal Saturday before last. Very welcoming, excellent staff and pretty good food and wine! We are fussy, and we didn't have a bad thing to say about our first visit under the new management. Being local and an occasional patron to the MH over many, many years, in the last 10 or so years, we have not enjoyed our food or drink here. Now, with the new 'Hill Top cafe' management, I must say that we are glad we went and will visit again.
We were so excited to hear that the Merry Harriers was being taken over by the Hilltop Kitchen team - an already much-loved local pub, the new owners have reinvented the menu without losing any of the charm and atmosphere of the original. We had the most delicious food, made all the better by knowing that all the ingredients were sourced locally. The pheasant schnitzel was a standout dish - gamey but not overpowering, full of flavour and still tender and delicious. Pudding was equally excellent, with a wonderfully gingery sticky toffee pudding sponge, and a short and smart wine list meant that we were well hydrated throughout. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was brilliant to see the place so full of people. The Merry Harriers seems to have pulled off the impossible - a pub in Surrey that feels traditional but delivers excellent seasonal food at reasonable prices in a wonderfully atmospheric setting. We loved it. Food & drinks: Stand out in the local area.
Visited here with my wife. First thing we noticed is that the pub is incredibly noisy - perhaps we were unlucky and arrived on an especially rowdy evening but there was certainly a group that had to be asked to keep it down. The staff are attentive and friendly. The wine recommendation was good, the tables are laid out nicely, and the decor is tasteful. The toilets are pretty bad for such a lovely place - if you ever went to school in the 80s or 90s, you’ll recognise the cold hard smells and sights! But of a letdown. But who visits a place for a bathroom? Not us, but women should really have more than one toilet. Main course was the pie which we shared and was fabulous. Paid cash, waitress asked if we wanted our change tip was already included. Not the best question. If we wanted to leave extra, we would do so unprompted. All that said, we would still go back, and recommend you visit, but there are a few improvements that could be made.
The pub is under new management and they are working hard to upgrade their offering. They have an exciting vision which will improve the ambience and the food is already at a new level. Definitely worth a visit.Service: 4/5
Impressed by short menu 4 starters, 4 main courses, 3 sweets indicating concentration of attention and quality on each item. Pleased to see that they use local produce. The actual food matched our expectations: it was excellent. Not only did it taste good but it looked good. We will be back soon.
Hands down the best food, service and pub in Surrey!! the food was phenomenal - the pheasant schnitzel and crayfish cocktail were some of the highlights. Erin, our waitress was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The pub is quintessentially English and very chocolate-box cute. The only downside - and not something to keep you away, more to keep in mind - the parking space was a challenge as it was very busy - we had to get creative. We will be coming back and back to The Merry Harriers! Thanks Team and well done!
