A small historic market town providing the perfect setting to our beautiful traditional country pub.

Story

Our traditional pub building has been stylishly refurbished to making it an ideal place to find a cosy corner and take time out whilst enjoying some of our Chefs seasonal dishes and our great selection of wines, ales and lagers. Inside you will find roaring log fires, a unique dining room and comfy armchairs to while away the afternoon.

Had reservations for Boxing Day lunch , service was attentive and friendly . Food was well presented and tasty. Only negative was our table was in the middle of the floor and our chairs were bumped a few times by people passing by. Did request to be moved but were politely told it wasn’t possible . Otherwise a good choice for lunch .

A lovely evening and excellent value for money from this pub for their valentines day menu. Food and service was great. We would happily return. Thank you to staff and chef.

It was the interesting taste combinations on the menu that attracted me to this restaurant.  Sea-bass with chorizo, pork belly with scallops; challenge accepted.  We weren't disappointed with our menu choices and the pork belly with scallops was very tasty.  Service was sketchy but when it came the staff were very efficient and polite.  Next time I'm in the area I'll try the sea-bass and chorizo; everything tastes better with chorizo.  Parking: Outside car park.  Dietary restrictions: They are very observant regarding food allergies or intolerance.

I hadn't been to the Inn on the Lake for a very long time. It was a family run concern back then, now its just another generic pub restaurant. The staff were friendly and professional. I had to wait about half an hour to order food at the bar. I asked for my lamb to be medium rare, it was more like medium well. I do have to say the potatoes that came with the lamb were spectacular. I preferred the bar where it was back in the day. It was a lot more cosy and welcoming.

Really pleasant experience, went their for brunch with my gf and she really enjoyed it. Really good service and atmosphere. Venue was elegant and the bar staff friendly and attentive.

Food was fantastic, it appears a bit on the pricey side but the quality was excellent and worth the cost. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, spacious interior, with friendly and attentive staff.  Toilets were spotless.  Large gardens with outdoor dining. It's a shame smoking is permitted as with increased ventilation and open doors the smoke could be smelled whilst eating indoors.  Separate vegan menu with several options for all courses.  It would be great if there were more vegan sides available, especially chips - there's a definite lack of vegan chips in godalming. A total surprise to see the wines marked as vegetarian and vegan on the drinks menu - I will definitely try your wines on my next visit. There is a good amount of parking at the front and following the track round to the rear there is more parking and an electric car charging point.

We visited this evening Sunday 4th Sept at 7pm and it was lovely. The pub itself and grounds were clean, tidy and welcoming. The service was very good. Although there were no roasts available due to a busy day the menu had a good selection and our meal was great. Best Espresso Martini I’ve ever had. We’ve booked for next Sunday and hope it’s just as good ! Thank you to the young waitress working that shift. She was very polite and attentive.

Came here for a big dinner with my family. We were a group of about 12. The staff were very accommodating, giving us a large table and pushing together two more in order to fit us all in one area. The food was good but the vegetarian dishes left something to be desired. However the cocktails were amazing ! The overall atmosphere of the place was nice & had a good buzz

Starters were fabulous and prompt, but waited quite a long time for mains, however lovely setting and worth it as the roasts and steak were all lovely. Dessert wise mixed - The brownie was rock hard though and had to chip it out of the bowl with a fork! Never seen a brownie served that way before. Still went down well with the ice cream but would order something else next time. The apple and damson crumble was exceptionally good. Lovely service and drinks. Overall very happy.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Food was delicious, service was excellent and room was very clean with an amazingly comfortable bed. To top it off, Nikki on the front desk was an absolute ray of sunshine to be greeted by for breakfast. Everything you could want was absolutely on point, shall definitely stay again when possible. Keep up the great work!
