"It is extraordinary what you can make of a former cattle barn: open fires and ancient wooden beams create a homely, cosy feel, whilst outside the extensive grounds are great for enjoying those rare days of sun."

If I only could give 10* I would. Place is absolutely incredible, beautiful interior, amazing garden, great for drinks only or for a meal. Food is amazing, even children options are great. Definitely a lot of flavours, food is not bland, probably the best squid I've ever had. Really really good, child and dog friendly which makes the place even more adorable.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to find us a table on a walk in when it was Christmas period. The food was delicious. Above average, which made for a really enjoyable experience, and the prices were very reasonable. A must visit for anyone passing through or nearby.
We have driven past here so many times and never actually popped in. So one Saturday afternoon whilst a few friends were around from a wedding the night before we thought we would give it a go. We weren’t disappointed. The interior of the pub is amazing, massive ceilings with wooden beams and the garden area was equally pretty, also very nice because you couldn’t hear the main road the other side as the garden was virtually enclosed by buildings. They had a decent selection of beers which I’m afraid is what I usually rate a pub on as I don’t drink anything else. The food was very nice as well, I had the curry and the flavours were amazing, even the rice was really nice which is a strange thing to say as rice usually is just rice, but they had flavoured it and made it just that little bit special. All in all we had a thoroughly lovely afternoon here and will be returning. 1st December 2022 update: Further to my previous review, we went back on the 1st for an evening meal with friends. The place felt warm and cozy despite it being 2’c outside, which I commented must be costing them a fortune to do, especially as it’s an old building with single glazing. We were there with friends and I had the Pork Belly, which wasn’t your traditional pork belly, as it was rolled and the skin wasn’t hard and crispy, but it was a great take on this. The thing I thought was the most striking about it was the Pea Purée, it was incredibly tasty. The whole dish was well put together and nice and filling. Another 5 star review.
The place is absolutely stunning, decoration space , dog friendly and staff top 10. Unfortunately we went to have Sunday Roast. At 3pm they run out of beef we were 4 people they only have for 1 beef and 1 mix with pork. We could not eat the beef, it was overcook and dry. Basically the quality of the Sunday roast doesn’t match with such a beautiful place.
Gorgeous pub with very, very friendly service. Each waiter we encountered had a broad smile and made us feel very welcome. Food is a bit more pricey than other pubs, but there is table service instead of ordering at the bar. The roast was excellent and worth every penny.
Absolutely gorgeous pub on the outskirts of Godalming, Surrey. Traditional log beams, open fire, and wonderful atmosphere. Plenty of parking, covered outside area, and the staff are great. Been coming here since the 90s and would highly recommend.
The friend I came with is gluten intolerant and we were SO impressed with how large the gluten free menu was! The food was delicious, service was very friendly, and the restaurant itself was gorgeous. We made our reservation on a total whim and are so glad we did because it really made our night.
Atmospheric place. The staff give you a leaflet about its history with your menu! Nice garden. Plenty of parking space. Reasonable prices for food. Food pleasant but not remarkable. Staff friendly and helpful. Loos OK. Wheelchair access.
A buzzing happy place. Food is usually good, service friendly. The ambience is unique as the huge hall under the oak beams is stunning. There’s a fireplace and generally the setting is to remember.
It was very busy being in between Christmas and New Year when we went there. The staff were efficient and friendly. I had a burger, which was not bad but neither that brilliant. That's why I gave it a 4*. Overall a good experience I would go again.
