Quite a large building but I'm not sure if the pub extends to the upper floors at all. Lots of space with a bar in front, a number of rooms moving toward the back leading to a large beer garden partly covered out the back with it's on little stone henge. The staff was lovely and engaging, although keen to leave some mystery re the old mirror covered in ties over the fireplace in the bar. The Guinness was excellent as was the Timothy Taylor's Landlord.
A fantastic traditional pub. I met up with a group of people I know. An area was reserved for us as requested. The service was very good across all staff - warm, friendly, intelligent and polite . Significantly better than many other pubs in the area.Service: 5/5
We visited here mainly because of the enticing name! A cosy little pub at the end of the Main Street, it truly is a typical English pub. Friendly bar staff went out of their way to serve us. There’s a car park at the rear for customers. Obviously many rugby fans are customers as there’s lots of flags of the competing countries for the World Cup. Well worth a visit. Probably best to stick to beer here as the wine may not suit wine buffs.
On way down from boxhill fancied a quick drink and toilet stop dated local pub what pubs use to be like the hubs of the community. End of the day it does exactly what it says on the tin . A Pub !Service: 3/5
Old fashioned pub with several separate rooms and a large garden. Large bar with two to three real ales. Limited food menu, mainly snacks. A bit scruffy but comfortable.
Nice traditional pub with good food.
Good traditional pub. Pizzas good. Update: Still does good pizzas, now has a new ale on the hand pump and cocktails on tap! Update: Remains a good drinking pub, now have a new coffee machine making decent coffee. Kitchen currently closed due to power costs, but pub still open for drinks. April 2023 - kitchen still closed I think, but pub open. July 2023 - kitchen still closed, but pub Remains open and popular. October 2023 - kitchen remains closed, but popular pub and showing major sporting events eg rugby world cup.
Had a quick drink and lunch on a hot day here. Carpark available around the back of the pub. The garden was very nice to sit in on a sunny day. There was also sheltered seating so you could sit in the shade, or out of the rain. Decorative pub with iconic band memorabilia.
Incredibly rude manager - much better options in Ashtead.Food: 1/5
