We had the tofu laksa. The picture on the menu was attractive but we were not impressed. The broth was tasty but it was really lacking of vegetables - a few green beans. The half of egg was hard boiled - it is usually runny and the exciting part of a laksa. The mix of rice and egg noodles doesn't add anything. All in all, it wasn't bad but slightly on the cheap not the price.
The core product here - laksa - clearly has something going for it, and the soup has a really good flavour to it. Contents perhaps had slight room for improvement, I can't say I'm a big fan of those vermicelli style noodles, and there weren't many other ingredients in the tofu laksa just green beans and beansprouts. A few relatively easy tweaks away from being excellent, in my opinion.
Fantastic food but unfortunately I must say that the place is very unorganised and we were given terrible service when we visited two weeks ago. I appreciate it was a busy Friday evening however the lack of attention from the staff, yet more importantly to be met with such an arrogant attitude from one of the staff members particularly, was infuriating after waiting for over 2 hrs to get our food. I can deal with our order being later, wrong and forgotten which was the case however what I cannot accept is to have someone rudely telling me I should have addressed our complaints before we asked for the bill, when the issue in the first place was lack of attention from the waiters - 4 different people whom we did address our complaints to. After hearing such great words about the Laksa Kitchen I must say that I am very disappointed from our first visit and we will not be returning. Shame to have such bad management in a genuine place like this where the food and ambition is great.
Even though it's not what the pop-up was named after, the Char Koey Teow is hands down the best I've had in London, and beats loads of Char Koey Teow outside the island of Penang. Of course, the Laksas are amazing as well, and the Loh Bak just tastes like home.
Tasty food, had issues in the past with their delivery options.
Great food! I really wish they were here permanently.
Amazing laksa! Really worth the visit
Tasty and delicious!
