SEASONAL FOOD IN UNSPOILT SURROUNDINGS
The King's Head in Wellesbourne is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Book a table online and enjoy a spot by our roaring log-fire. Or make the best of the British summertime by eating alfresco in our pretty beer garden.

Pub History:

The King's Head has always played an important part in the history of Wellesbourne. Originally known as The Wellsbourne Inn in the 1600s, the King's Head was used as a hospital during the English Civil War. During the Second World War, we played host to the RAF pilots and ground crews from near by Wellsbourne airfield.

Accommodation with character:

Our nine bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge continues tradition of welcoming travellers. It's our local charm that attracts office staff and ramblers, as well as diners and drinkers from Wellesbourne and nearby Charlecote, Newbold Pacey and Moreton Morrell. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation in Wellesbourne.

Make a day of it!

Close to Stratford-upon-Avon and the National Trust's Charlecote Park, The King's Head has history written through every brick and beam. Originally The Wellsbourne Inn, it became The King's Head during the English Civil War.

We stayed at the pheasant and were hugely unimpressed with their menu, so decided to eat at the King's Head instead - what a great decision. We were served by Libby, who was a delight. Our meals were delicious & the cocktails were really great. Our dogs were comfortable under our corner table, and overall we just felt everything was done as it should be. We'd absolutely recommend and return if ever in the area again.
We have stayed previously and were super happy with the large room we had. However upon this visit we were in room 9 and in our mind it should be considerably cheaper. It was half the size and sadly smelt a little. Maybe drains? It wasnt bad and we soon became accustomed to it while within the room. But upon entering room it was noticeable each time. Once again our food was lovely One of the reasons for our return visit Also the staff were great. Welcoming and informative. Despite previous negative comment about the room, it was lovely and clean. Thank you Jo. We would certainly stay again, a bit pricey for us but overall very nice apart for small room. Thank you Kings Head
Went for a Christmas meal with the family table of 6. The food was good, albeit overpriced for what we got. The waitress was not very attentive, we had a long wait for drinks and some never arrived. We also had to ask for some more cutlery when our mains arrived, our waitress then proceeded to quite literally dump the cutlery on our table and we had to sort ourselves out. As said earlier the food was nice but the experience would have been better if we had better service!
We had a family Christmas do of 16, at The Kings Head, last Saturday 3rd December. It was brilliant. The staff were attentive, the food was really good. Couldn’t fault one thing about it. Thank you all for giving us such a lovely evening.
The food was lovely as was the atmosphere. The service for starters and desserts was very slow and during the meal we were given no explanation as to why. Also a drink was ordered that was never served. We meet a relative who was up in Strafford on holiday if we lived nearer we wouldn't be returning.
Lovely Christmas Day meal - took all the stress away! Perfectly situated table to accommodate parents with mobility issues and attentive service. A big thank you to the Team.
Booked online and asked for a table by the window and they put us on the one table not by a window but by the entrance door so not a great start. The waiter Dan was friendly, he took our orders by memory there were 4 of us. A bit of a delay before we received our food. The food was bang average to be fair and my wife's Beef Bourginone was particularly poor , no dumplings and just a pile of beef stew. We did complain and she was given a dish of green vegetables instead but at 17.95 definitely over priced. Overall disappointed as we had brought friends over and will go elsewhere next time
We had the 3 course meal on New year's eve. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the young lady and gentleman that waited on us were very polite and accommodating, great service all round . The place has a very friendly welcoming atmosphere
Hosts and servers were a credit to this pub. The food went down a treat with no one complaining or wishing the ordered something else, quick service in terms of wait times for the food and we were kept up to date with how long roughly things would be.
Travelled from mid wales to the nearby motor museum and wanted somewhere cosy to have food afterwards. We weren't disappointed upon arrival, greeted promptly by Dan, seated in a timely manner and our server Kate was on hand for every detail! Drinks were prompt, food came shortly afterwards and was delicious. Great value too! Will definitely return if in the area again! - Tom W
