Story

A favourite with the townspeople, who use it variously as a watering-hole, the place for a spot of lunch or a celebration dinner, we have won national awards. Twice named in the Top Ten UK pubs in the last three years, it was voted Best Pub in the UK in 2004.

Our secret? We take huge pride in serving the best ingredients we can find, form ethical producers, freshly prepared by our chefs. And we do it at pub prices, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The pub is open every day from 8am for breakfast and coffee, with lunch served from noon and hot food available all day. If you’re from out of town, we also have 5 smart and reasonably-priced bedrooms.

Simply fantastic service. The staff were amazing and couldn't do more to help. They were friendly and approachable. The room was nice and a good price too. Tea and coffee in the room, plus hot chocolate, biscuits and water. The only issue was the noise, being above the pub and lots of merriment of people leaving late at night.

Great pub, a classic; good beer (and wine), fantastic atmosphere, great setting and the food is very good too. Highly recommended!

I went for an early light lunch with my wife today , we both ordered the same from the menu........ two Venison & Pheasant terrine with Cumberland sauce and tasted bloomer, which also came with a small salad dressing. The Terrine looked liked it was on its last legs if not past its sell by date and looking that brownish colour as meat can look when its turning and the salad dressing leaves were transparent ........definitely past there sell by date and quite disappointed with the whole affair ............. what else do they serve on the brink ?

Just met friends up from London there this evening and had a fabulous meal with great service. Contemporary menu with something to suit everyone and a lovely twist to make the dishes stand out. A good find.

Average. Chicken was brought out late after the original dish was wrong. Disappointing - two legs and a thigh did not and will not set any culinary records. The pie seemed purchased rather than baked. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were bland at best. They tasted as though they had sat under the warmer and had a texture that suggested such. I found the place to be disappointing. Ed, the manager, apologized for the chicken but no offer of a dessert or even a coffee was forthcoming. To this end, even though the atmosphere was nice, we'd suggest that there are better places in Warwick than this. I was expecting too much of this 'award-winning' kitchen.
