Stayed here with our dog after a day in Bath. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection with lots of flavour. One of the best meals we’ve had.. and we eat out a lot! We were served by the lovely husband and wife sorry we didn’t get your names!, they made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them. Thank you, we really can’t wait to come back to this fabulous pub.
Lovely place to stay and eat. Great room with lovely accessories for our use from tea/coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. To the lovely smelling shower gel and hand wash. The welcome for our dog was so nice. The food was great for Sunday lunch and for breakfast. We found some beautiful walks very close by. We would definitely stay here again . Highly recommend
They had run out of vegetarian options for the Sunday roast meaning I had to share the singular portion with my husband. Would have been more than happy to have an alternative option that wasn't on the menu that met our dietary requirements, but there was none. The meal we did have was tasty. Very nice setting.
Beautiful building, apparently the most haunted pub in Wiltshire but I didn’t see any ghosts. Really entertaining staff… we had a fantastic meal, even my humble fish and chips was cooked to perfection and my partner’s pork belly was delicious and beautifully presented… puds were also delicious…. Highly recommended
We stayed in one of the cottages and it was fantastic, had everything we could possibly need and more. Our dog was welcome no extra charge which was great, normally we pay extra for the dog. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were all super friendly, we will definitely be back!
Had Sunday lunch with friends, lovely location and village and beautiful old building. Sensibly limited menu, but the four of us went for the 'Hereford Rump' roast. As good a cut of meat as I've every tasted and plenty of well presented veg and Yorkshire pudding. Staff very personable, absolutely nothing to complain about. Couldn't manage a pudding but friend had an excellent and unusual cheesecake which was simply divine. Owner came round to check all ok ,nice touch, I said the meal was great and he said "please give a review", so here it is. An hour's drive from us, so can't just pop round, but will be back.
Tastefully restored charming pub. We stayed there for the night. Rooms very clean and cozy. Amazing countryside location, lovely food and friendly staff. I will definitely come here again!Rooms: 5/5
We booked a table for 3pm & due to being delayed by traffic got there at 3.10pm. They refused to serve us as we were late, said the kitchen was closed. 10 minutes!!! Everywhere allows 15 mins. Why allow a booking for 3pm if you are not prepared to honour it. He said we would have needed to order by 3.15pm anyway. Rude. Don't bother with this place. One of our party is on crutches & was so difficult to get in & then to be refused.
Visited today with friends for lunch, we were very pleased with our whole visit. We had pre booked by phone and spoke to a very lovely man who answered our questions. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff. We spoke to quite a few throughout our visit, they are all so lovely and very happy in their work, The food was absolutely delicious and there was a wide range of drinks. We even took our 9 year old and he was very happy with the children’s menu. The building itself is stunning and very old, lots of original features, which is always lovely to see. The bill was very reasonable too. The carpark is quite large and situated in a beautiful village. We all left pleasantly full and with smiles on our faces..
So much better since I was last there! Lovely food, good service... The pub was very cosy & warm and seems to have rid itself of the smell of toilets that used to linger just inside the door! Will definitely be back. Well done Butcombe!
