Barge Inn
"A family run business nestled on the edge of Bradford on Avon, a 5 min walk from town centre will being you to us over the bridge. Large, open outside areas and a large grass terrace by the canal side means you get lost up there all day. A newly refurbished interior reveals the new dark, rich company colours to highlight the historic features of the building. Coupled with our freshly cooked, ever changing menu is the making of a well earned dining experience."

Nearly drove past the Barge. Nice big car park but can imagine it's packed in the summer as there is a space at the back of the pub which is on the canal. The menu was varied and not to expensive. I had belly pork and black pudding mash with kayle. It was excellent. My friend had the chicken dish which she really enjoyed. The service was great. Drinks were all reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
I pop in every so often. I have eaten once here and I was not disappointed. The food was well presented. Staff polite and friendly. Access via the road. Carpark for patrons, it is not the biggest carpark. Lots of people walk to this spot, a short distance down the road from the canal. Lots of space in the garden and there is also the garden area beside canal. Great to watch the canal life drift by. Disabled access to main garden. Beautiful at night during summer with lights on, very popular. Plenty of seating available. Quieter during the winter.
Comfortable stay. Very pleasant staff. Tasty breakfast which set us up for our long walk. Unfortunately there was no Internet, but actually it meant we got more sleep because we weren't messing with our phones!Rooms: 4/5
Lovely spot for a drink and food. Prime seating by the canal and barges offering lovely views. Great service and amazing tasting burgers. Will definitely be returning!Service: 5/5
friendly staff, good food although breakfast was mainly cooked no option for cereal only porridge. Room was lovely, a little cold but a heater fan was provided which worked adequately.
We called in here for lunch on our way to stay in a hotel for a few nights. The outward appearance is a little deceiving as the food provided for lunch was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly, with both ordering and payment taking place at our table. If the weather is suitable, you can sit outside by the Kennet and Avon Canal to have your food and drink. In wintertime, it appeared that it would be quite cosy insude, as there were several fireplaces and lots of logs waiting to be burnt. If we are in Bradford on Avon again, we will definitely call in again for another meal.
Another parking saga at the Barge Inn. Pub looks nice but staff and management lack basic decency or basic human understanding and compassion. We parked onsite on BOXING DAY and owing to a mix up our fault, not theirs were unable to eat as planned. As a result, and owing to the fact IT WAS CHRISTMAS, we spent 40 minutes attempting to resolve the issue before eventually finding an alternative location. This was of course over the grace period for parking without entering your number plate on the terminal in the pub, something we hadn't noticed despite the signage, nor were we alerted to by the staff during the lengthy process of resolving our issue. Fast forward to the attempted appeal, Barge Inn "couldn't" help as we had no proof of purchase... More likely unwilling to consider the nuance of the situation, don't expect any help from anyone, they won't listen or attempt to help resolve the issue. The appeal at Smart Parking was of course unsuccessful, resulting in a £100 fine which despite one further attempt to reach out to the pub and appeal to their better nature lol we decided to pay and be done with the whole thing. An unwelcome expense in increasingly expensive times. Like I said pub looks nice, couldn't comment on the quality of the dining experience, but can warn that principled people would be better served elsewhere.
Very welcoming, seeing that we were a party of nine. Friendly service with delicious food. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.Service: 5/5
Lovely, restored old pub on the canalside. Good food, friendly, pleasant staff and a large garden. The bedrooms are clean and well equipped and very nicely decorated. Walkability: 10 minute walk into Bradford on Avon, great walks along the towpath.
Ate in the pub - food was nice, but a little on the expensive side for what it was. Would have been nice to have the extra glasses and cutlery cleared away as there was 2 of us on a table for 6 that we were directed to. Our main issue was it was so cold, stark and unwelcoming inside. Alright on a warm summers day - but really uncozy in winter. It would have helped if they'd lit the log fire, but a table had been put in front of it, despite it not being particulary busy. Free, easy parking, that needs to be registerd for. The fact that it's card only, not cash, would put us off coming back
