This pub has the most stunning front garden, terraced on the steep slope down to the river. The food was good, but expensive - burger was around £16 if I remember correctly and it was nothing special. Will definitely return on a warm summers day for a drink and to enjoy the scenery though.
Visited yesterday with a mate, such a beautifully located pub surrounded by greenery and a river! However, I was really let down by the menu on offer. Not much for choice and the burger wasn't that nice - however, I was starving so ate it anyway. Staff are really lovely and helpful, very welcoming. Dog friendly pub too
Superb pub selling great beer. Attentive and polite staff make places like this more special. I had a burger which was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The chutney was very nice with the salad and coleslaw being very fresh. The chips were great and the portion size very decent indeed. It would be nice to visit there again, I can imagine it's a spectacular spot when the sun's blazing.
Visited the pub as we were driving past the town. We called first and was told that food finished at 20:30, and it was 20:15 when we rang. We arrived at 20:25 I know!! and we're greated with a big smile and a really polite staff member! The food came quickly and was really tasty. Would 10/10 recommend a visit!
Been going once a year for 5 years as it is on our canal boat route. This trip was for lunch. Food is excellent and staff always good. The only criticism is a very limited menu wasn't clear it was a lunch tune menu compared to previous visits and the only desert was a £3.00 tub of ice cream. Like I say food is amazing and we were too full for desert anyway. I just thought I would point this out. Saying that though they have a huge and lovely garden overlooking the river which is AMAZING so perhaps this is the reason for a limited menu this time? Anyway it's sort of a 5 star apart from the menu issue.
Absolutely lovely spot, on the River Avon, below the Kennett and Avon Canal, next to the train station and Avoncliff Aquaduct. Just perfect. Food was lush and great beer too. Thanks and see you again
Long established Pub which attracts tourists and rambler’s. I would recommend renovations to the outside toilet block ASAP here, then I’d give it a near perfect star rating because the food is great!
Fantastic setting and quick service. We were worried because visited on a Sunday but plenty of outdoor sitting and surprisingly quick service. Generous food portions and a couple of local beers, too.
Very old and very quaint. Any improvements to the building have been done while keeping the charm of the architecture and interior. Menu was fairly basic but the food was good. I had a Chicken Ceasar Salad that was perhaps the best I have ever had.
Lovely location. Food was nice. Dropped a point for only supplying bendy, cheap, eco unfriendly, plastic cutlery!
