One of the best meals we've ever had and we eaten at Michelin starred restaurants. Everything was perfect; the atmosphere, service, friendly staff and the food was exquisite. 100% recommend. Will definitely be back. In fact my partner said he'd gladly travel from Nottingham where we are from just to eat at the restaurant!Food: 5/5
Food was good apart from the fact that I'm lactose intolerant and I let them know as I ordered and I still received my side dish of vegetables with what appeared to be butter and a creamy sauce so I was unable to eat that and when i asked a waitress if the vegetables had a cream sauce she said yes it has dairy but couldn't specify what exactly the sauce was just that it had dairy. other than that the room we were in was nice but the table was a bit cramped. This is just my opinion and I'm sure others in the group had a nice meal and i didn't want to spoil the occasion for the others so i didn't make a big deal about it but i can only hope that the staff take dietary restrictions seriously in the future as it is very serious matter. Vegetarian options: Very few options on the Sunday menu Parking: Not the greatest parking and the road was very tight with parked vehicles down the lane on both sides Dietary restrictions: I had a bad experience where they didn't pass on my dietary restrictions to whoever was serving/preparing the dishes and was served a side dish of vegetables with a dairy sauce
The food in The George is excellent. I had Beef Wellington which was fabulous. I had white chocolate cheesecake for desert which was creamy and indulgent. The staff are great and service attentive and efficient. The pub has a good, cosy atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. I will definitely be returning!
Fantastic food, lovely staff couldn’t have done more for us. We had a large table of 16 people and still everything for everybody was perfect. Amazing Sunday lunch and catered especially for me who is gluten free. Kid-friendliness: Amazing Dietary restrictions: One veg, one gluten free and 3 kids
What a brilliant restaurant! We both travelled far to come to this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed. Beef Wellington was on point. The seating area near kitchen was pretty awesome. We are both planning on returning to this restaurant very soon.
dated, dirty, and unwelcoming. We went for a walk along the canal, and an elderly couple recommended this place to us. We gave it a try, but being a professional private chef, I found the food very dated and some odd combinations that simply don't work. The food was dreadful! Most of it was reheated rubble! As for the actual decor, it's seriously confused and needs a good cleaning! The place seems to be run very poorly! Such a shame, as it could be a real gem!
We had a lovely evening meal here. Burger, sea bream, steak and a goats cheese tart. All four meals were lovely. Great service, and a lovely building. Highly recommended!
Great to meet the new owner Martin who was very attentive, chatty, friendly and welcoming. Also Paulina, for service, was excellent. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would recommend and certainly return.
Great pub - relaxed atmosphere and really good and attentive service. Food excellent main meal or snack. Rooms are great and the location is ideal for the village and surrounding area. Parking: good parking at the pub
Went for mothering Sunday lunch and what a great lunch the food was delicious well presented and very tasty. Well done to the chef and huge well done to the serving staff for carrying all those mealsFood: 5/5
