We went in yesterday, no tables had been cleared or cleaned. We ordered our food and it took over an hour for two meals at lunch. I had ordered a grilled chicken burger and when it came out they gave me the buttermilk crispy chicken but it had been so long waiting I just had it. My burger was meant to have come with cranberry sauce and pigs in blankets off the Christmas menu and both were missing. The chips were cold and not fully cooked so I left most of mine and so did my partner. My partners burger was cold. We have never had such bad service there and deeply regret choosing it for a ‘quick cheap lunch’
Booked a family room for 2 nights for family of 4.nWas deliberating over whether to book 2 double rooms or not. Rang ahead to be told the family room does indeed have 2 extra beds for the children we have teenagers so were cautious so went ahead with that.nLo and behold, on arrival, we found a lovely large double bed, but with a tiny sofa bed and a pull out inches off the floor next to it. To make matters worse, the sofa bed was slanted so you couldn't even sleep straight. We checked out early after 1 night at our own cost as apparently there were no spare rooms, but the staff weren't really sure when i had asked.nnNice pub though, in a great location. Shame about the family rooms.
I am not sure what it is about this place but always seems to have things that are not on the menu.nDuring the summer over two weeks with no lager.nNow on a Sunday virtually nothing on the menu, no burgers, no pizzas, no chicken.nConsidering this place is supposed to flagship and is on their posters - extremely poor
Clean, air-conditioned room, comfortable bed, good quality bedding, quiet room with soundproofing. Good selection of in-room teas and coffees with biscuits too. Nice hotel staff.nI wish I had known: There's no bathroom extras apart from towels and soap - bring your own face cloth, cotton wool, shower cap etc. No fridge in room.nFood in the pub is very good value, but you get what you pay for. If you're a foodie, I suggest checking out the plentiful cafes and restaurants.
Stayed here for a couple of days whilst down for the horse racing . Lovely building , and a very picturesque setting in a very central location.nThe rooms are great value , with excellent en suite bathrooms.nI’ve always found the young staff team here are uniformly excellent : really efficient and helpful.nAnd of course, the food and drink are ridiculously cheap !
