UPDATE: This closed during Covid and up for sale still as of 21/6/21. ............................................................ Newly refurbished, really friendly staff and very quirky with the railway theme, food and drink prices are good, a new local for us in walking distance. Also have a rewards scheme
Reopened local pub. Good selection of drinks and offering decent food that's reasonability priced. The Sunday roast is really tasty. The pub is well decorated too. Also dog friendly. A good addition to Polegate.
Wow!!! What a improvement!!fantastic night .lovely welcome from new manager.Great atmosphere,Great menu, and dog friendly: love the cosy decor and Guinness on draft!!very happy customer. Good luck an success for the future Just what Polegate needs:
Excellent meal here. Had a meat platter that was brilliant and gluten free bread was supplied for me. Really lovely main meal 2 of us had pork belly melt in your mouth and a great flavour. We ordered far too much food so had no room for a pudding. Great service very friendly . Really good to see a local business building up in the Polegate area when so many are struggling. Well done to the staff
Finally the perfect local pub we've desperately needed. Great food at fantastic prices and good selection of drinks too. Not a massive fan of coke out of big plastic bottles though, much prefer it out of a gun so it isn't flat. Staff are really friendly and accommodating.
Popped in on a wet day whilst out for a walk. First visit since the reopening. Clean, casual, very tidy and very welcoming. Happy to report the beers are very well kept and presented. Only had a quick drink, but noted an interesting food menu. Definitely worth a visit. It's an easy short walk from the Cuckoo Trail and Polegate Railway.
Had an excellent meal here. We shared a meat platter between 3 of us that was brilliant and gluten free bread was supplied when requested. We had a main meal each, all were excellent and the service was very good. Definitely worth a visit you will not be disappointed.
They’ve really turned this pub around, the music is great and so is the food. Me & a friend tried the steak and wow, I’ve never had a steak cooked to such perfection. I will definitely be returning!
Had our first meal in here on Sunday. It wasn’t mega busy but we had to wait over an hour for our starters. Also they were just about to change the lager barrel and said they would bring my pint over but it ended up being left sat on the bar which I then had to ask for it to be brought over. The two roast Turkey dinners that came for our table had different vegetables on them for some strange reason? We also had two burgers which were very nice. The manager, whilst polite was clearly very stressed and didn’t crack a smile the whole time we were there. Mixed thoughts about this place at the moment which is a real shame. Judging by other recent reviews maybe we were just unlucky?
Great hosts, friendly environment, excellent food, beer good.
