Sussex Ox was incredible. The setting was idilic, the food was AMAZING and the local drink menu was delicious. I’ve never felt so at home in such a great venue with insane food. The service was impeccable, there when you needed them but not over bearing. I had been told about the Sussex Ox by a friend and it lived up to every expectation and then some. The most amazing afternoon and makes me want to go back for another day of food & drinks .
Had roast beef which was served on a cold plate and to be honest the meal wasn’t hot, The beef was under cooked and was far to chewy for me and didn’t have much taste, the veg was nice but I’m sure it would have been nicer hot and the potatoes were packet ones which weren’t that nice to be fare. A real shame as was looking forward to my meal and left feeling hungry
Great meal, imaginative starters, great mains, refreshing desserts. Service the perfect balance between attentive and letting you enjoy your meal in peace. The whole meal was perfect, beautifully presented, everything showed great imagination, you will not get this elsewhere, it was all unique and beautiful, right down to the teas and coffee, could not have been more helpful or done anymore to help. Lovely pub with nice views. Food was outstanding, every mouth full was so yummy, we can't wait to go back. Can't praise the food enough.
Lovely Country Pub set on the South Downs, great friendly service, serving amazing food and a good selection of local Ales.
The loveliest staff!!! Gorgeous atmosphere, delicious food. The only thing is I wish there were more vegetarian options. I had the mint and pea risotto and I wasn’t a fan, unfortunately it was a little on the salty side and I just didn’t like the combination of the two flavours. But other than that this place is just so gorgeous.
We cannot speak more highly after holding our mothers wake there yesterday 25th October 22, they catered for all of our guests dietary requirements vegan, vegetarian and gluten free!, the food was phenomenally sublime, to the level of what you would expect from a 5* boutique establishment. The service was second to none, the front of house team were respectful, attentive without being obtrusive. All of our guests commented on the sublime food and high level of service. We could not have asked for more on what was such a difficult day. We cannot recommend The Sussex more highly enough! Hannah Evans Vegetarian options: Very varied! Dietary restrictions: Absolutely amazing! Caters for all and to a very high standard!
One of the best burgers and steaks we ever had: meat is from their own farm. Superb meringues too. Highly recommended.
A beautiful old pub in a stunning setting - surely amongst the finest of Sussex pubs. Not a great deal of choice on the menu for those who don't eat meat. A good selection of local beers. A bottle of cider is £7.50! Plenty of parking. Beware that the pub closes early sometimes on slow nights. Recommended.
Great traditional pub. Really good food, quality local ales, good service and a nice atmosphere. Also, amazing views of our beautiful South Downs from the dining room and garden with amazing sunsets too. Cosy inside winter months with open fires etc etc. Beautiful local walks. Perfect.
