We loved this place in every way. I've been really unwell for a couple of months, and it was my first foray into eating out because it's my birthday. I'm quite restricted in what I can eat, for now, and was upset I couldn't have any of the standard menu items. They were so wonderful and made me my own unique salad with safe ingredients, and it exceeded all my expectations. It really made my day. The ambience of the place and the service was top-notch, as well as the food. I can't wait to go back when I'm well enough to eat from their usual menu.
It was our first visit to the Hide, we will definately return.nnI had creamy mushrooms & spinach on sour dough toast. I don't know what was in the sauce other than cream, but it tasted delicious ! The sour dough toast tasted better than any I have had before. I think it was toated on the griddle, maybe?nnMy wife had the full English veggie breakfast. She said it was one of the best she'd had ! She specificaly asked for soft yolks. But Her eggs arrived with set yolks. She commemted to the waitress & in no time two soft fried eggs arrived.nnThe service in The Hide is excellant, nothing was to much trouble & it came with a smile.nnThere is only one negative. It is very small & cramped downstairs which made it very cramped when people were waiting for a table. There are tables upstairs though ! However, this would not prevent me returning in the future because the food & service was so good.nnLovely coffee too !
Fabulous find on Pocklington’s market place. Charming and rapid service. And excellent food, all of which seemed to be home made. We had beautifully spiced tomato soup, thick bodied and well flavoured, with lovely toasted sour dough, a perfect mini-cheese and tomato quiche and the best tiffin ever cranberrry. Pistachio, ginger n & white chocolate. You won’t be disappointed.
Food Fantastic and prompt. Tried new Yorker warm sandwich. Pastrami, swiss cheese, mustard, rocket, pickled red cabbage, gherkins and lovely toasted flat bread, with coleslaw. Coffee very good aswell, service exceptional. Served 12 of us in no time.
Food is very good, staff are very friendly. I would say the food is slightly a bit too pricey for the portions you receive however it's all presented beautifully and you can taste the quality.
