I stayed on this this site for a week at the end of the summer 2022 and had a really nice experience. The owners were lovely and really relaxed and friendly. The pitch was perfect with 240v hook up, fresh water and an outdoor table and chair set in front of me. I felt very secure here too which was important for me. I inadvertently carried out a drunken early hours penetration test of the site after a night out in Manchester and was immediately met by the owner which again reassured me of the security here. The entrance is gated at night and covered by CCTV. The toilet and shower block, whilst fairly basic, has the best shower I have ever experienced. Ever. The water pressure is like a firemans hose and it will go as hot as you want for as long as you want and there is no button to keep pushing or meter to feed. There is a toilet cassette emptying point and litter bins and full laundry facilities coin metered on site also. Manchester city centre is easily accessible from this site too. Its about a 35 minute walk about one mile from the campsite to Oldham mumps tram station then a short tram ride into Manchester Victoria tram station and you can pay by tapping your card on the platform when you get on the tram station and tapping it again when you get off. Last tram back on a weekday and a Saturday is around midnight or 11 on a Sunday and a taxi back is about £30. When you arrive at this site, the entrance is down the slope through the black metal gates immediately beside the old pub building The Hawthorne - not the large car park beside it on the right. The office is within this building too.
Facilities are functional. Showers were hot. Lovely view from my tent out to the nature reserve. Camp fires and bbq are able to be used here. Fire pits are provided. Prices were incorrect on the website, £20 per night and £2 per night for electricity not £15 as advertised per night. Close to motorways so lots of places are within reach from here.
It was a good experience, I did camping there. The owners are very nice people, very polite and friendly. I felt welcomed and had a nice peaceful night in my tent there.
Stayed there for 3 weeks and Stevie & Alice where friendly and helpful also the other campers where easy going and a warm atmosphere.
It smells of dogs and cats and rooms are very basic for the high price you pay. Rooms are not very clean
An absolute gem! Close to Motorways, Oldham, Manchester and with easy access to everywhere around yet in the countryside. Quiet but with all amenities and a friendly, helpful owner. We really enjoyed our week there and will return - we go up from Essex so it is quite a journey but worth every second.
Absolutely love this site and the owners husband and wife are like family ! We go every few months to pitch our motohome so I can visit my parents in a local care home. Michelle john and out two little pooches
I would have left a zero star if it would have let me. This is THEE worst place Ive ever booked. It was that bad I didn’t actually stay there once I drove in because it was like Steptoe and son’s yard. Seriously this was horrific and I wouldn’t recognise place if I was homeless and destitute. Avoid at all costs
This place has potential to be great, but unfortunately on our visit it just wasn’t up to scratch. First impressions were great, decent quality pitch with electric hookup. However, the outside bar area was crazy - particularly in regards to the covid rules at the time. No enforcement of social distancing or masks from neither the staff or patrons. Table service only rules non existent here too - everyone was squished in at the bar trying to order drinks and there was groups of 10 surrounding some tables. Loud music went on into the early hours, shocking experience for myself and the other campsite users who has been charged 20 quid a night to be kept awake for most of it. Concept is great, but owners seem to be focussing on keeping the pub punters happy and disregarding the campsite guests.
We visited family and friends who stayed here at the weekend. Got to say it's a great place, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There are caravan hook ups, loads of space for tents, and for kids to run around and play. Toilets and shower block on site, and I think it's still a work in progress. The owner is constantly working on the site. If all that wasn't enough...there's a pub on site too. Great decking overlooking the site. Even though we didn't stay the night by the way, the pub has rooms to let had we wanted to stay I highly recommend this place.
