Brilliant! We were recommended the Goshawk and we were not disappointed. From the initial greeting, until the time we left, we felt welcomed, important and we were looked after so well by attentive staff. All the staff were freindly, approachable and with a good sence of humour. The food came quickly and warm plates were given for us to our shared Sunday platter on. Food was plentiful, properly cooked, hot tasty and good quality. The deserts though limited were to die for and well presented. So much better than the last Sunday lunch we had at another Lee's outlet. We will definitely be going back and will be trying one of the many entertainment nights they present over the year. 5* Guys, couldn't fault you.
We have been here before on the Chester to Manchester Rail Ale Trail so I hope this was just a bad day. Lovely country pub with a great beer garden and good JW Lees beer. We met with friends for lunch and it was a let down. My beef and ale pie was OK ish but dry. Our friends double starter choice was ok but the cod and chips was poor. A white mush pretending to be cod in a soggy batter. The waitress asked us if all was ok. We told her the less than half eaten fish n chips was poor. She said she would tell the kitchen; for whatever that meant. Not good enough. Must try harder.
Great country pub, amazing food and very friendly and attentive staff. Definitely will be going again.
Really nice welcome when we arrived, great with the kids. Table was all set up for 12 of us with plenty of space as we had 3 dogs with us too. We weren't rushed with ordering, but they kept coming over to take drinks orders as people arrived. No rush with the food order either, which was really nice to just be able to take our time and enjoy family time. Some of us ordered the sharing platter, which was well worth it. The Yorkshire puddings were massive and were unlimited along with the gravy but don't go ordering too many to start with as they are big! If you're a big fan of pigs in blankets order another portion as only 1 each on the platter and they were very nice. Kids meals were great value for money. One had sausage and chips, another chicken goujons and chips and then pizza and chips, only criticism would be the pizza option, was more like a ciabatta type bread in slices, still the grown ups managed to finish off what the kids didn't want. Can't fault the service, servers available for drinks orders and for Yorkshire pudding and gravy orders a plenty. When we'd finished our food we weren't rushed again with ordering dessert or to leave which was really nice. A great location, lots of room, friendly staff, great food options and very tasty so would highly recommend!!
We stayed just a few minutes walk from the Goshawk. What a gem. We had 3 meals here. First class food, service, staff and setting. Staff very polite and attentive. I could recommend this place to anyone. The photograph of the meal is a sharing platter for Sunday lunch. Lovely. Thanks from Gary and Sue.
Most amazing pub food we've tasted. Impecable customer service and what a beautiful setting!
Visited for Sunday lunch with my wife and friends on 14/08/22. Really excellent meal with great service from very friendly and welcoming staff. My wife and I arrived slightly early and were taken straight to our table and offered drinks, which arrived almost immediately. Lovely dining room and everywhere was very clean. Lots of outdoor seating too. Highly recommended.
We had a Sunday roast dinner platter for 2. £30 and it was huge. We couldn't eat it all, so we brought it home. Food was great, and the staff were very friendly and served with a smile.
