Wow, we had some of the best steaks we’ve ever eaten and really personable service by the manager and front of house. I wish all businesses had this approach. He took the time to talk to my family and he really showed he cares about who visits. We could hear him doing the same with everyone who came. The waitress was also lovely and let us adapt the menu slightly for our child who didn’t like squid and swap it for fish. We will definitely go back. The Thursday night steak offer was a win win for us too!
I was greeted at the bar by a Friendly & Helpful man, got seated at my table, food arrived it was absolutely amazing Can't wait to go back, I was also lucky enough to meet the head chef Alex - what a nice man.. Looking forward to going back and trying dessert, couldn't manage it this time round. But it was a little gem, if you haven't visited yet it's a must, you won't be left disappointed..
Amazing! We came for Sunday dinner, the bar area was lovely and we were very happy we could bring our dog. Every staff member was very cheerful, friendly and helpful. Food choice was amazing - didn’t know what to pick! I am coeliac gluten free and the staff knew exactly what I could have and there was lots and lots of choice for me! The gluten free burger was amazing! Will be back again definitely thank you for a lovely evening.
Having a change of plans with work and being able to return home for my Birthday weekend meant securing a last minute booking for me to celebrate with friends and family. No problem for the very helpful staff at The Bird in Hand, nothing was a problem for them and we were very well looked after, the chef even offered and cooked us a special sharing paella for 8 of the 18 guests. The children had great meals and emptied every plate. One of our guests is vegetarian and the Chef made a dish requested specially by our guest. Absolutely nothing was too much for the kitchen staff and front of house team to deliver in making for a very comfortable, delicious and special birthday celebration. Excellent food, excellent service. One of Chesters best kept secrets! Thank you all for an enjoyable evening.
This is a proper food-driven pub which any village would be proud of. Lucky Guilden Sutton. Had an early dinner last night, we arrived just before 6:00. The bars were buzzing and the heated covered deck area at the rear was already pretty full with families eating. It’s a very welcoming pub, run by Stavros aided by some excellent young members of staff. Sorry, I’m rabbiting on but I’m getting to the point, the food. Absolutely brilliant! We had some big garlic prawns and some katsu chicken to start. Followed by a delicious short rib of beef, which just melted in my mouth… but the gravy or probably sauce was fabulous, served with crispy potatoes and veg etc. We also had a really good cod and chips I was allowed a mouthful. As it was early on Alex the chef came out to ask us how we enjoyed the meal, I hope I wasn’t too gushing, probably was but he deserved it. I don’t do many reviews and I only do them when I particularly like somewhere. The Bird is absolutely brilliant, if you haven’t been yet, get down there. I’m away for a few weeks but as soon as I’m back, it’s a Sunday lunch for me even though I live over 20 miles away.
Foody pub tho it has a cosy little bar room at the back. Good real ales from local microbreweries. Oracle and Trapper's Hat at £4 plus guests at £4.50ish. Beware the 20p surcharge for halves!
Mum and I have just arrived home after our first new year meal out at the bird in hand, Guilden Sutton. Atmosphere and service was exceptional, very high for a local establishment. Food was well cooked, fresh ingredients and delicious. We would highly recommend this establishment and will look forward to returning. Vegetarian options: Vegatarian options extensive
Nice country pub hidden away in Guilden Sutton village. 3 cask ales in fine condition and a lovely menu. We ate in tonight and very satisfied with atmosphere, service and food. We had the duck gyoza starter and the lamb main. Sticky toffee pudding to round off a great early evening. Great to see a thriving pub with excellent fare. A couple of pics but the dessert was tucked away before I could snap it. Lovely outdoor area and dog friendly
We had a family birthday Sunday lunch that was fantastic! The contact before the day was amazing, and everything was just beautiful! Thank you to everyone at the bird in hand! We will be back again! Especially for the Sunday lunch xxx
Great little village pub we were here to celebrate two 60th birthdays. The food was excellent, there was a good selection of beers. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for our party. Will definately visit again
